Because education favors women and in our communities it favors black women.

If it were any other demographic falling behind this would be seen as evidence of marginalization. :francis: but we're black men...

Come on man...chill with the hotep excuses...any motivated individual can learn something new...easily. It all comes down to dedication.

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
Why though?

Yes this seems to be the case, but how did we get here?

Here’s what black boys are being driven to (marketing, music, guidance, etc.) focus on at a young age:

I'll comment on the topic of black men in the workforce in general in the U.S. , but comparing black men and women on this is just going to lead to a huge argument and I don't think OP meant to do that. All I'm going to say is black men and corporate jobs or jobs that require masters degrees or whatever don't mix in this country. "They" only gone allow 1 or 2 brothers(or black people in general) at a time to rise through the ranks and even with that they are making sure you don't appear to be a threat to them. And a lot of black men would rather not deal with the entire hassle of it all and get a skilled trade where the work environment is not perfect but better than dealing with fake suits. And I know for a lot people I know around my age (36)...we got sold on the idea that if you just get a degree and blah blah blah you'll be ahead and now we're looking at bachelors degrees being damn near worthless for a lot of fields while we all sitting around with debt. Then people want to start talking about getting a masters and hoping something is waiting for you on the other side of that too.

When your kid says they want to be a baller, mock them and then take them to the tutoring lessons

Because some of them degrees is tied to working in research which is pretty low paying.

Some masters degrees like a MPH are extremely well paying.

This bothers me a bit, black women arent getting paid nearly what they could/should be. Theres alot of factors but i think part of it is getting used to not expecting much.

My fiance has an MHP.

She makes 80k-85k, which is... ok... but she thinks that its alot. In her defense she was making 42k before she graduated so in her mind its like double.

But i told her its not really all that great because when we did a glassdoor of where she worked, her peers were making 99k-116k. And many didnt have their masters.

It was eye opening to her.:ohhh:

Part of the reason we get paid so little is that we have no frame of reference of how much we should be paid. A project manager with her masters and lean 6 sigma should be making 6figures period.

Even on the coli we act like its impossible to make 6 figures if you arent a doctor or lawyer :dwillhuh:

I love how black women are hustling on the academic side, i truly do:salute:

but i feel like they arent demanding the amount of money that should come with those titles.

Its ok tho, she gonna learn from me how to get the bag:mjlit:

Whole lotta people in here talking bout trades make more money than degrees, but I know more black men without a trade, than with one.

And I know more black women with a degree, than without one.
I'm the only boy in a family of 5. All my sisters have a skill or trade and all earn more than me. And I'm the only to go to college. I also have more debt than all of them combined. And I haven't even finished Law School yet.:francis:
