Don’t underestimate yourself.
Anyways...@Xerces ain’t wrong. But the difference is, Wu didn’t seem to use that as a gimmick, per se. You got the impression they was really into that chit. Like with the movie samples and all that, and kicking the Eastern knowledge. And, (probably most important of all) they weren’t dressing like Afu-Ra or trying to shoehorn Kung-Fu into every song/appearance/interview they did - like ICP. That’s what makes something a “gimmick”.
Sidebar: imo Three 6 Mafia did a good job walking this line also.
And I think the only reason people say “U-God is the most surly dude in the Clan” is because
he just talks more than Rae. It seems like Rae has been trying to prove he doesn’t need Wu
ever since after Purple Tape.
Lol dude is way more miserable and surly than Rae. Rae is disgruntled about a lot of shyt for sure, but U-God spews nothing but pure uncut hate every time a mic is in front of his face.
And furthermore, Rae has about 100x more credibility than U to complain. Rae got an indisputable classic under his belt and has been a dope emcee for almost 3 decades. He’s an indispensable member of the clan and they wouldn’t be what they are without him.
U-God has always been
and nothing would have been lost if he never joined the group. They probably would’ve been better without him honestly.
This dude has some audacity to say anything about RZA or anyone in the clan when he couldn’t rap and was a self-described street dude who was awarded the generous opportunity of joining arguably the greatest rap group of all time. If we believe his own accounts of his life, he probably would’ve been dead or in jail instead of a member of an iconic music group if it wasn’t for RZA.
