It's a scary situation for millions of people...if y'all thought homelessness, unemployment, and the need for instant financial aid and food support, among other things were bad during the COVID shutdowns, it's going to be even worse.
I don't believe this pause will last going into the first week of February when federal benefits are usually dispersed because Congress has the power of the US pocketbook and I suspect many Dems, maybe even Republicans in certain counties and State Attorneys are in the process of suing Trump and the Executive Branch for overstepping its power towards benefits already in the possession of the States and local counties.
Some states like New York, California, etc, will figure out ways to get past this pause because in NYS, local counties control tend to have more control over benefits such as Snap, Medicaid, rental assistance, etc. Other states might be a little more different in how they handle these benefits.
Trump is seeing how far he can abuse his power, and having the upper hand in the House and Senate has given him an ego boost to take chances with certain things he didn't think of doing in his first term.
