People would be a fool to take that deal.

It’s just a ploy to get government workers to take that payout and later forfeit their pension.

Stupid play longterm especially if you’ve been in that position 10 years or longer.

As you start to get older a retirement, insurance, and mailbox money is important. Nobody is trying to be 65 years old plus still clocking into a job especially if they don’t have to.

This man actually did some homework. Rep.
he didn't need to really, folks in higher positions posted the shyt word-for-word with highlights and everything. I even started reading it for myself, when they got to the part about tracking folks that leave their homestates to get abortions, i put that shyt down. pure evil man

if they're only offering 25K for buyouts, that's chump change. not even half a years salary for a good federal job.

Isn’t the max buyout like 25k?

When someone brought it up at work recently that’s what someone said, that by law it’s 25k.. maybe someone more knowledgeable can fact check that

You’d have to pay me a lot more than that to accept a buyout

Looks like according to this that’s what it is

Its not easy to become a Federal worker..its usually people that are highly qualified and competition is stiff.
25k is monopoly money..

People were long warned about this guy and voted primarily out of spite and hate so he'd hurt the other groups of people they hate..but he wields a double edge sword :mjlol:

These aren't the analog 1980s..:comeon:

People can still deliver the same results working from home.

Trump is a fossil relic from the 80s and musk an Apartheid relic..
Trumps gripe is the optics of empty real estate because workers are at home and musk it's an ego thing to cart millions of Americans to the office like cattle.

Why do ya'll believe this?

It's not hard. It's just expensive to recruit and train replacements as a lot of federal agencies are funded like shyt if it ain't related to the military.
Nah it’s hard. I had two co workers, one was older & near retirement had been messing up for years. Every time he’d get a performance plan he’d improve just enough. Talk to the union & back to his bs lol

The other was just a shytty. Same thing for the most part. She eventually ended up quitting & going to another agency.

Judd Legum

This is grossly irresponsible reporting by the AP. What’s being offered is not a buyout. The deal is if you agree to resign in September you can continue working remotely until then. There is no buyout or severance.

While the agreement does not provide a buyout, a seperate OPM memo instructs agencies to place these employees on paid administrative leave until the resignation date, which if it is actually enforced, would be something closer to a buyout.

Why is SO MUCH of the press now tools for trump? Its very sad. I grew up respecting journalism as a pillar of democracy.

I think it may point up how lazy the press can be. They’re not fact checking press releases. They’re just racing to get them into the news cycle and, maybe, just maybe they look into it later.

Based on everything you know about MAGA and Project 2025 why would anyone think they would do anything even remotely generous? This option is simply a way to trick you into identifying yourself for termination. You will not make it to September.

... and if an employee resigns, they are not eligible for unemployment, correct?

17/40
‪George F 💙🌈 🫘‬ ‪@georgef2.bsky.social‬

Correct. Nor is the employee eligible for any partial or reduced pension - the one they have been working towards for years.

18/40
‪Amanda Ourtaau‬ ‪@aourtaau.bsky.social‬

Not exactly true, if they’ve worked in the federal government for at least 5 years, they will still receive the benefits that they accrued during the time they worked. Now, if the system as a whole is scrapped and everyone loses their pensions, that’s another story.

19/40
‪George F 💙🌈 🫘‬ ‪@georgef2.bsky.social‬

Yes they are vested in those earned benefits (money). But no "partial pension" has been offered. For example, in other times, to reduce the force, active military was offered option to retire early - 15 years service - at a reduced pension amount. That's not on the table here.

20/40
‪Quentin‬ ‪@qjpowell.bsky.social‬

Two people?

Again, you'd have to tell me what agency and when because the other half of my post is about how hard it is to hire, train and retain people.

Federal agencies have a lot of turnover.

Over the last 15 years, agencies have focused on fixing the federal hiring process. Recent data from the Office of Personnel Management shows, on average, agencies take 101.2 days to hire a new employee.

While that process is far from perfect, the Office of Management and Budget is starting to look at keeping those employees once they have been hired.
