nikkas saying this wasn't great.. it's the first episode and they've already given us plenty of exposition on the characters, now we get to the murder and how it all intertwines.

I'll say it.. this was better than the first episode of Breaking Bad.

As a whole I think Breaking Bad was kind of slower paced until S3, but the opening moments of the Pilot are some of the most intense TV ever. I was pure status until after the opening credits went away and the commercials aired.

I think true Detective S1 is better than BrBa S1, I'll say that for sure.

I think this ep of TD got ruined for me because I read a review that posted some of the "lamer" dialogue, and when I heard it on the show it was already planted in my head. Lines like "Never do anything out of hunger, even eating." Or, "The highway suits me." I'll stay away from reviews from here on and I'll probably enjoy the season a lot more.

we all know that Hollywood is forcing gay characters into every show these days and Tim Riggins character may end up being that for this one brehs.

- the questionable paid suspension he got from pulling over the hot blonde that offered sex to him
- having to pop a Viagra and fake a 30 minute shower in order to get a blowjob from his girl

I watched a cop pull over a blatantly dangerous (but ultimately, famous) actress for a stop that fukks him over more than her.

I see later that the same man's both literally and figuratively scarred from war, and can't turn down.

His girl trusts him and knows the drill somewhat, but she is tired of waiting for him to come around...not just in that moment of intimacy, but for their relationship in general.

He temporarily loses his sense of duty via media PR hush hush bullshyt, almost killing himself in a moment of sheer desperation and frustration, but he just so "lucks" onto a corpse...

...that very well may send him in a further spiral, considering it's just another call to action, and he's still not addressing his problems. If he can get overruled on a starlet's DUI, who's to say that they won't use his nature against him and bury him further with whatever shytstorm he just walked into?

That was the worst part of the ep. It was like, c'mon...

Imma be honest, I thought he was either gay or, at the least, the show was trying to plant that seed to flip it later.

It was because of the way that suspension conversation went and his face during the blowjob - he didn't just pop a blue pill and wait - the camera specifically lingered to show him looking disgusted to be getting head by a beautiful girl that was throwing ass at him. Then after that, he tries to off himself.

It was the first episode and I could be all wrong, but I don't blame anyone for getting that vibe cuz that's how I saw it too.
