Self-hating gay people exist everywhere breh. There's a billion dollar empire built on those "pray away the gay" type facilities and those people are popping viagra and trying to have sex with women/men too.
Most of the episode was based around sexual dysfunctional of the characters - even the dead guy had a house full of dikk statues and a decapitated naked lady in milk statue - then you've got Riggins acting suspect in almost every single scene and those scenes being shot/placed in the episode in a specific way, to me he looks like one of those gay guys that hates himself for being gay that they're always showing on the news because they jumped off a bridge or kissed the barrel of a gun.
I'm not really attached to the idea though and am fine if there's some other explanation, in fact, it seemed almost too heavy-handed in that direction to me, so I'll probably end up a little disappointed if I am right. I'm just not sure why so many of ya'll are making up reasons for it not to be the case. Beyond a throw-away statement about the war, there was practically 0 dialogue about Riggins possible PTSD or whatever other dark past reasons for his dysfunctionality. There was, on the other hand, plenty of carefully worded conversations that made it seem like he had some self-hating secret that drove him to want to off himself. I'm choosing to go with the obvious one until I get more information is all.

PTSD/depression/anxiety can definitely lead to sexual dysfunction, but it seemed way past that, the way it was shot and scripted....I could be wrong, thats just my first impression.
