It won't be a satisfying ending if Rust goes down for the crime. It would be a curve ball to viewers and show our justice system is corrupt and fukked up. But I don't want to see that type of ending.
Who's to say we're supposed to be satisfied? You have to remember this case is being presented to us mainly from Cohle and Marty's perspectives. The black detectives are just doing their jobs. Can we really blame them for pointing their finger at Rust? After what they've heard from him and how some things just don't add up?
Marty is a horrible cop......he blew dude head off on some impulse shyt....but he has shown signs of being unstable all series...i wouldnt want to be around a person like that
Besides pointing out how great the acting and cinematography is, I'm fukking scared of this cult shyt. I don't even want to go down this rabbit hole, these b*stards are sick as fukk

When Marty stormed out and started walking up to the dude cuffed on the ground, I was like, "He's gonna ask him about whether or not she gave him head. This guy better be honest or --" BOOM.

Seriously though, I feel like Marty had a lot more to lose so he was cautious about the proceedings. Rust didn't really have anything to lose at all and was flying off the rails, and I think Marty was reluctant to go through with some of the plans as they came up. He wanted to take his time and call in backup, and do it all by the book to make sure he wasn't getting in trouble. Rust is like "Do you think Saturn gives a shyt that its rings are mostly made of ice?" and Marty just goes with it.

Watchers are so enamored over Rust they fail to notice how much of a sh*tty cop/person Marty is
They dont make a good team.
The story would have been better if Rust shot Ledue after seeing the kids. Marty coming up with the plan for the shoot out cover up.
Rust later finding out Ledue is not the main one behind the killings and going crazy trying to find the real killers.
Hence his state now.
Yeah Rust is straight methodical...he's now on the trail of the real killer...and its taken him 15 years....he just needed to know what the cops got so far

But we're being served with clues of prevalent corruption and cover ups already. We've seen someone commit suicide right after they claim to know info on the yellow king, we keep hearing that people in power might know more than the are letting on about these ritualistic murders and we know that the task force was basically a bunch of goonies working for the governor and his brother. And after hearing Rust talk about the cyclical nature of life and how nothing really changes, i think we'll see that type of ending.
No way bruh...it makes sense for you and me...but not detectives....especially homicide detective...they see the worse of the worse humans can do to each other...have some sense of professionalism!
In the case I understood with Brad Pitt, because Kevin Spacey but his preggo wife head in a box!!
The more I think about ....all this is Marty's fault killed dude...if he didnt..Rusty would have put the Jedi mind tricks on him on the interrogation and they would have seen how far the rabbit hole was initially
Yeah but with everything that was going on in Marty's personal life, I think that was enough to make him snap. He instantly realizes the error of his ways, and they have to cover it up.
All of that to say that I don't think Marty is a shytty character or detective.

Was gonna post this exact same thing! Maybe its a sign of the times where i saw the kids but wasn't really moved to want to kill Ledoux. I'd prolly got a few punches and kicks in (while claiming he was resisting arrest) but straight execution..nah. For a second when Marty opened the back of the van, i thought Marty had seen someone he knew because that would be my only justification for lashing out that quickly without even thinking shyt through.
