I don't think this model (other shows are going to follow) is going to have issues attracting otherwise expensive talent. I could see this being the new "doing broadway" between blockbusters.
A couple of years ago, the actor who played Brody on Homeland called this "The New Golden Age of Television" and I think he was 100% correct.

Brehs, there are so many good shows, that I can't even keep up with them. I have to catch up on all the HBO series anyway, I still haven't seen SOA, Hell on Wheels, or caught up on the TV classics like 24. Add to it that great shows just keep coming out.

I'm done for.

I don't think Rust cares about their marriage either way. Nor their kids. He was saying a man and woman get together to propagate the species, on some strictly "you're doing this so the human race don't die off" type shyt. So that's why he was :yeshrug: towards Maggie about their marriage problems.

:whoa:

"SoA" and "Hell On Wheels" are gonna be like dog food after watching something like this. "24" is great if you like mindless action, but I wouldn't put any of those 3 shows alongside the classics we've gotten over the last 10ish years.

Yeah, but re-watch the scene. He said "it's not supposed to work except to make kids". In other words, your relationship has served it's purpose from a biological standpoint, so why are you upset?

Rust is basically an alien.

I have to go back and watch Sopranos. Introducing wifey to The Wire (of which you must watch at least three times through completely), still have to watch Deadwood, I downloaded Oz but haven't watched it yet, Thrones about to come back on, I still haven't started Boardwalk, True Detective has completely hooked me.

And that's just HBO...

I stil haven't watched Orange is the New Black or House of Cards yet. Both of which are supposed to be great TV.

Haven't caught up with Walking Dead either. Mad Men is about to come back on too.

I am spoiled.

Yeah that's true.

I find that I sympathize with almost everything that he says, too. Not in such a "hopeless" sense, but I completely agree with all of his major points.

That's a good way to word that conversation as well.

I'm gonna assume you seen "Breaking Bad".

"The Sopranos" is incredible. So is "Deadwood" and "House of Cards". "Oz" gets pretty stupid towards the later seasons. Haven't seen "Orange...." yet. Not a huge fan of "Boardwalk".

I think that the fact that all of his beliefs that he was strong in (religion, life in general, people, his purpose) are completely solidified in modern Rust, has to be a sign that something very dark is about to happen.

Breaking Bad was incredible. I finally caught up when they put the whole 4th season on Netflix. Watched both parts of the fifth season right here on The Coli with my brehs. That in and of itself made the show that much more enjoyable.

The scene from True Detective was probably the best single scene of TV that I've ever seen, but my fav ep of TV altogether is Ozymandias. My favorite season of TV might be season 4 of The Wire. I have to go back and rewatch so many shows though to reevaluate all of my favorites. It's kind of like when you see a movie when you're 18, it's not the same as when you're 28.

Dont bother with the walking dead. Better shows deserve your time

I find that TWD isn't so bad if you get behind a few episodes and crank through 2-3 hours of it. They move at a snail's pace, so you get more out of binging it than waiting week to week.
