I love that this show is giving way to such dialogue, but can't some of you nikkas just relax and take in the show?

Some of you nikkas thought this episode was slow??:dahell:The fukk. Nikkas this aint 24 or some shyt.

Anyway, I liked the episode,:manny: can't wait until next week. Hope next week is more than an hour long.

Matthew my nikka, but he saying that because he wants a bigger paycheck. He is basically saying speak to my agent, HBO.

if they had spent another 5-10 minutes making a case for why it was ok for rust to sleep with maggie, would it have been ok with you guys?

it seems like a lot of this stems from viewers assuming that a character like Rust would never throw caution to the wind and ravish his partner's wife just by her simply getting within 6 inches of him.

if they had built up the tension, or had a mini-montage of them drinking that bottle of wine and sharing laughs, or her crying more and more until they lost each other (like Monsters Ball) would that have been appropriate?

is it the fact that he even crossed that line?

no offense to anyone in here, but this is coming off like a writers' workshop. a writers' workshop that doesn't really even matter. the writer knew what he wanted the characters to do. the chemistry and play around Rust and Maggie had been on screen a few times before. she calmed him down and made him feel welcome (probably the first one in town to do so), Marty didn't even want Rust around his wife without him there. It's not like this came out of nowhere, they had poked at the idea a few times. a few of the posters were calling it from the first second the characters were on-screen. it was right in front of our faces, lol.

Sorry if it's not what you wanted Rust to do, but it's what they had in store for his character, and the entirety of this season.

I don't even know why this is a point of contention? It's not like she told Marty that she slept with Rust and we never saw the scene to confirm it for our own eyes. She came over, they had sex, we saw it with our eyes. Did it advance the story in a quick fashion? Yes. Thank god. I would have been pissed if they wasted 5-10 minutes giving every viewer a reason for why something like that should happen. It happened. It was a moment in a show. They made it happen fast because they don't waste a lot of time, and she had to catch Rust slipping.

Did you want them to show her trying Rust 3 or 4 times until he finally slipped up? Or have her hang all over him for half the episode until he did the deed? They did what they had to do, the show moved on, they didn't torture us through longer than it had to last. WE HAVE A MYSTERY TO SOLVE, WE DON'T HAVE TIME TO TRY TO MAKE SENSE OUT OF A MAN'S PRIMAL NEED TO POKE. He poked, so what, it was on paper for them to have sex for who knows how long.

One way or another, it was written for them to have sex. And it was written by a person, or people, who lived, breathed, ate, drank, slept, pooped, fukked out these characters. I'll give it to them to lay the characters out the way that they should behave.

I think the last episodes were below par, because nothing really happened. Nothing really at all. It was all transitioning for the final episode. We learned about what happened to Marty and Rust in the past 10 years and that the lawnmower man was the killer. We didn't learn anything else. It just seemed like an extended montage. I know it needed to be done, but it just seemed like 'easy way out' type writing to me.

There wasn't even really any good character study either. However, Woody did a damn fine job. He out-shined MM this last episode.

The problem is they set these expectations about hidden clues and the cult, and we've learned nothing about them in the last 2 episodes. Nothing. Most people saw the lawnmower man shyt a mile away. That wasn't new. I dunno, I felt like nothing happened but atmosphere. :yeshrug:

Woah, woah, woah, woah, Matty would NEVER do that. Everything he's done up to this point would totally contradict that bit of info that you have introduced!

I kid, I kid.

It was designed to be an anthology. He signed on knowing that it would be an 8 episode deal and then roll on.
Wouldn't be surprised if he and Woody gave it a shot just for shyts and gigs because it was convenient, different, and fun for them.

I'm not seeing the hate either. Like I said before, the show moves slow sometimes to build the story/drama, or plant the seeds that will eventually bud, but sometimes the show moves slow because it takes place in Louisiana and that's the mood/tempo that we're supposed to feel.

I guess I don't see what has been planted that they couldn't have shown in 10 minutes. I wanted more stuff about the cult, etc. They just set up shyt for a confrontation with the cult in the final episode. We didn't get anymore lore or back story or anything like that. I was really enjoying that shyt. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised, but I don't think really anything, except for the bare essentials (this is the monster and this sheriff is in on it), was planted these past 2 episodes. Like I said before, it just seemed like one big montage to transition from point A to B. I wanted more style and twists and turns. Not the straight line they gave us.

Admittedly, my expectations are sky high for this show though

Why not come back?? :manny: This the kind of work he wants to do, good solid acting. Nikka getting awards for it too. I mean they need to just give him the Emmy right now, since Breaking Bad is off tv. There is no other male actor on tv who can compete. Every story I heard, is they (Woody, Matt) have fun on set, are great friends. Making this series was fun and easy to do. I bet they smoke up to pass time. :pachaha:

The fukk Woody doing anyway?:lolbron:

Obviously if it were a 10 or 12 ep season, they could have gotten creepier with the lore and stuff between 2002-2010. They could have gotten a little more in detail with histories and them following up on clues and leads. They could have shown Matty playing around in the dark and/or swamp for a couple of episodes, and I would have watched it, but they didn't have time.

There's only so much you can do with eight episodes. Even the greatest HBO series/anthologies got slow for a couple of episodes.

Man I know it. I would totally watch another season of this show, even if it were just Matty and Woody sitting on a dock saying "yup" for eight episodes.

The long and short of it is, they signed on knowing it was over, and the director is already developing new characters that he's "falling in love with."

It's bittersweet, but the best things are. Just enjoy it while it lasts :to:
