He wouldn't last in the FBI talking that crazy shyt and showing up to co-worker's dinners drunk. He's where he is for a reason.

Fred.

I can actually speak to this. There are hardasses that seem like dumb cops in the FBI. And intellectuals. And there are guys in the FBI who are straight up Jimmy McNulty clones. I know an FBI guy and he seems more like a undercover vice detective with how he acts. Not all FBI agents are straight laced suit and tie type.

Amazing 1st episode, but no way this show becomes GOAT because of different casts each season. That's what kills it for me.
That's exactly why it CAN be goat. You're not going to get actors of Harrelson's and MM's caliber and reputation to commit to multiple seasons of a TV show. You can get just about anyone in for one shoot where you knock out a season. GREAT actors, good writers, and good directors always being available give this franchise limitless potential. Not to mention, the writers don't have to try and stretch a show for 2/3/4/5 seasons. They can just write the best 12 episodes they got and keep it moving.

It's like saying a movie can't be the GOAT if it's not in a trilogy.

There's nothing wrong with doing something great and wrapping the shyt the fukk up.

Why are nikkas bringing up the word GOAT in any capacity after one damn episode?

Let this show breath without that foolishness

Anyway, I've been waiting for this since mid last year and this first episode has me hooked. The cinematography is top notch. McConaughey is great as is to be expected nowadays, but don't short change Harrelson's performance. The eccentricity and brooding nature of Rust's character is heightened by being viewed in comparison to Harrelson's "boringness". I love dark, depressing shows so I'm hoping they maintain this tone throughout.

Brother Mouzone's still going hard with that chapstick even in humid ass Louisiana:wow:

I'm gonna call it now woody harrelsons character is fukking that chick who he bounced with to check out evidence. shyt was a chekhov's gun introducing her and then having them bounce together.

If an FBI agent was acting as erratic as Rust, slapping his co-workers in the mouth, they'd :camby: his ass. Let's be real here. There is a huge chasm between "not the straight-laced type" and Rust. At some point in the story I fully expect them to mention he's not living up to his potential due to his personality type.

I had a crazy thought. What if that crippled former pitcher is the killer? He could be faking his handicap. I thought it was kinda odd when Hart asked her about his condition she didn't seem to know specifically what was wrong with him. "He had a bunch of strokes" is pretty vague.

I thought the same thing too but for some reason I just don't want it to be him

My guess is the guy they arrested is someone we saw in the pilot but the real killer is someone we haven't seen yet

I wouldn't dismiss the show's potential because of that.

With the way it's set up, they'll have to embed the character development while telling the story/plot a lot sooner than other shows. This 1st episode was great because it did both well. It gave us a good understanding of who the main characters are, and laid out the foundation to the story. There will more than likely be minimal filler in this show, and I'm all for that.
