I was just thinking about this...
To me...it has supplanted episode 1 of season 1 of the wire...as the goat first episode of a series...ever...
Woody and MM absolutely kill their roles...
The setting couldn't be better...the trashiness of it...the backwoods feeling...the ever so slight
...man i grew up in a small town that looks just like this...Only thing now that could ruin it, is the actual plot they go down...and i am skeptical there...because one of the main writers for this show was a writer on the killing...and I thought outside of maybe the first 8 episodes of season 1, the killing was trash...due mainly to poor plot and writing
shyt already got me thinking...since every season is supposed to have new detectives...who else could they get to top Woody and MM...
It's just one episode so far, but to me Woody and MM are this show...like...i don't know if I would even watch it if they were not in it...
The episode had so many low key moments in it though...like when the kids were whispering at the table...and MM is looking at them...but then you never find out what they were whispering about...

been waiting for this since I saw that first trailer....caught the first episode and i'm liking where this going...couple thoughts:
- MM showing people he's a good actor again...people doubted him cause of all the romantic comedies he was doing, but that shyt was paying the bills...guess that doubt has him doing more shyt like this, which is cool with me...on a side note, it's a reason I wanted him to cap America...
- woody doing his thing too...I like the chemistry the 2 have...
- damn good writing so far, hopefully this keeps up the whole season...and the fact they gonna have different cases/actors in the future should help that...cause they don't have to worry about drawing out characters for multiple seasons, they can go all in for 1 season...
- russ isn't the killer nor a copycat...he's just going through some shyt: drinking/drug problem, divorce, and dead kid, which is the cause of it all...the reason's he's so good at the job is probably cause the job is the only place that allows him to focus and not get lost in his own thoughts about his own fukked up life...anyway, think he knows they didn't lock up the right guy that first year, but with a case like that, in a small town like that, people want closure...so i'm guessing they probably just locked up the first secluded, slightly morbid retard they came across to make everyone feel 'safe'...
- thinking the reason MM/woody character's fall out is cause of the case and woody's cheating....don't think that's gonna sit well with him...

Amazing 1st episode, but no way this show becomes GOAT because of different casts each season. That's what kills it for me.
Good first episode. What made it more interesting is that I grew up in the area this is taking place. Didn't know that they would be changing the cast after each season. At least there will be closure after each season though.
