Just some random observations and thoughts on the first episode:
-I can't recall watching a series premiere that fleshed out the main characters as well as this one did, but still leave a ton of stuff to find out
-Cinematography was great
-Dialog driven, but it seems like it'll be rewarding to pay attention to all the details (for the timelines especially)
-Martin Hart (WH's character) appears to be a contradictory person
-He mentions not jumping to conclusions at the murder scene to Rust, but he himself does so throughout the entire episode
-In the interviews Martin implies that he values family when talking about his old partner, but he has a mistress
-Martin assumes that Rust is a man of faith because of the cross over his bed, but is mistaken (contradicting his line about not making conclusions)
-We know that Rust is an alcoholic and in his terms a "realist"
-Rust doesn't seem to have any 'lie' in him. I'm guessing he won't sugar coat anything the entire series
-He looks like the kind of guy that really will leave no stone un-turned... one of those, "everybody's a suspect" types
-I think that Martin will learn a lot from how Rust approaches his cases
Can't wait for the next episode.
I'm sure there's more I could of went into but just wanted to drop a few thoughts. That was dope way of starting off a show, because it really did a lot for the character development from the jump, and a lot of shows literally take seasons for some characters to be detailed and delved into like this here.
