Yep the Elite fukked over NJPW. It took a lot of behind the scenes manuevering to get the AEW/NJPW relationship fixed.

I think the wrestlers and agents weren't mad but the people on the business side like Harold Mejj were pissed. The situation didn't get better until he left.
