damn how fast can a breh learn serviceable Portuguese. I have a year and some change to learn before I go.

Maybe I should go to Rio first and do Salvador later when I have a sense of the country.

I wish I had a partna who spoke that language.

My portuguese was passable back then, I'd imagine I sounded like a toddler to them, but to my own ears I was the man

When I stayed long term the woman I was seeing was my mouthpiece and helped me learn much quicker.

yes.. the whole northeast of brazil is.. my girl is from recife and we go every other year and we heading down in june, cause her parents are moving up to the virgin islands

My spanish is better than my portuguese, so I guess you can say I am. I have to think about what I want to say though, so it's a lot of "uhhhs" and "ahhhs" between words at times.

I am bound by no country or arbitrary lines, we all family

I honestly felt it would be idiotic to go to a country and not make the effort to learn their language.

How long did you stay?

Almost a full six months, I was going to stay illegally once my Visa was up too. I had an easy way to circumvent their laws, lets just say there would have been a Brazilian right now that was half Malta :tbn:
