Being a kid in the 90's before internet took our souls in the 00's

dad/mom take you to pizza hut unexpected then swing you by toy's r us or kmart to pick out a toy:wow:

:whew:
Being able to sit down and eat in a Pizza Hut was ethereal. There was one holdout, not too far from my job, but the pandemic killed it smh. I regret not going there for lunch more often. There’s still a sbarro’s up here though, it’s just hard to get to with mall traffic between two freeways.

lol I remember when my pops would have the: :dahell: face when my Christmas list had some shyt he KNEW was going to have him running all over metro Houston or Atlanta to find it lol.

But after a few days and finally seeing him look over from chain smoking camels like: :myman:, I knew he had found everything and it was hidden either in my mom’s bra drawer or in the closet behind a stack of sweaters with his porno collection.

We was Kings :wow:

The Ninja Turtle Technodrome :salute:

Video game prices have only gone up $10 per new title in 32 years :picard:

$50 in 1991 is $145 in todays money, per game

I’ll never forget nabbing the game slip and having to go to a separate window where they held all the games and checking out on the side like a VIP and not being in line with the rest of the plebeians :wow:

Not sure if our store was unique but I specifically remember that side window since I got a shot ton of games back in the 90’s

I miss that shyt. A year before the last Toys R Us around me closed, I went through it just to see what was up. It wasn't the same as in the 90s cause kids want slightly different things, but the magic was there. I will go to my grave thinking fondly on that "I don't want to grow up" jingle and getting amazing gifts like the Spider-Man and Daily Bugle playset

There is a certain amount of joy that you can not reproduce as an adult that these toys deliver. Maybe having kids and seeing them play, but I have fond ass memories.

I feel like children’s merchandising had hit a strong stride around that time. Especially when it came to selling a toy that was connected to a new IP like say how star wars toys became a big economic engine for the IP in addition to the movies just being very popular. Or like how Batman did with the first Tim Burton rendition. Those two both happened at the beginning and the end of the 80s
All those 80's cartoons were just big merchandising licks: MASK, The Centurions, GI Joe, Bravestar, Visionaries, Ninja Turtles........ . I wanna go back :to:
