Uhh you go digital and beat amazon to the punch! Amazon started with just books in a one room office with no war chest ! . You’re toys r us with 100’s of millions of dollars ...they could’ve pioneered the online wave and boxed amazon out ...toys r us may have had to downscale and close stores in the process but it would’ve been voluntary and could’ve been killin it online ....that’s how a savvy business does it ...best buy does a decent job at it cause you can order online and do in store pickups

So close the retail storefronts and go online, basically what you are suggesting is completely change the business. It might as well be a different company at that point because you just closed all your stores, fired 95% of your employees, and you still have the problem of people not buying your product at a sustainable level to fulfill prior contract obligations. .

Best Buy is doing a "decent" job at it because people still buy TVs, phones, and other electronics. Once kids reach a certain age they would rather have a tablet than a toy, that's a big problem for a store that only sells toys.

It’s not a different business it’s a shift in business bruh not hard to understand either switch most of your business online and thrive or completely go out of business ...the jobs too shift instead of hiring cashiers you’re hiring customer service agents fielding calls ,IT, web designers, social media ,warehouse workers , etc...either get with it or die ...imagine if toys r us would beat amazon to the punch and went online they’d actually be hiring MORE employees than their brick and mortar model

Toys r us also sold more than toys bruh ....just like the music industry these record stores like fye and tower record saw the digital curve and were slow to react ....tower records coulda had a digital stored selling mp3 before Apple ‍♂️I know you want to stick to your guns but these aren’t disputable facts sometimes you have to Rehaul your whole business plan in order to survive bruh

People want experiences now not possessions. Kids included. It's not just that that they could cost cut and shave their margins to remain profitable.

What was the last toy that was a hot commodity that WASN'T a video game?

I'm sad to see it go, but that's just the lay of the land now.

Again, fire Kathleen Kennedy.

The us can not go on where kids really don't have toys.
The problem with us in the nineties is they mad it so there were no new kids properties worth a damn. Plus the government allowed the big stations to not have to show quality entertaining children programming.

:damn:

Back when toys and properties made sense. If only the Indiana Jones large figure did not cost so much, then.

Anyway, this scene is still one of my favorites to ever end a movie. Plus, I just watched Indiana Jones like three days ago.

Well you are talking like the businesses ever believed in the internet and they did not tho.
Tylenol is the only company I seen change and really be better. Past that there are no other tylenols.

I was alluding that these companies didn’t invest enough in market research the internet was around ..someone here posted a Jeff Bezos interview of how he discovered the internet’s potential for ecommerce and he wasn’t even in the the industry he was like a banker or some shyt ...do a company with millions in the bank couldn’t draw the same conclusion or paid a firm to see this ...some random shmuck saw it but they didn’t that’s just content and lazy ness on their part

Bruh you seem to be missing the point that Amazon doesn't just sell toys in fact toys and baby products make up approximately 2% of Amazon's sales. Meanwhile toys and baby products make up 100% of TRU sales. When people stop buying toys that drop in revenue is going to adversely affect one company more than the other.

Nobody is thriving by primarily selling toys, it's not a TRU problem it's a consumer shift problem.

Your solution to go online and be Amazon isn't even a solution that's primarily applicable in this case, you could literally name any brick and morter company and say "close all your stores, fire all your front line employees, and beat Amazon to the punch". Even with that being said you still have a problem if people stop buying the product you sell.

Companies were out of touch and so were the actual consumers. You are talking like the internet was fully embraced and it WAS NOT.

I know so because I am the very reason why you nikkaz even get to respond on the net.

It was not easy being number one in sales in the isp game. Especially in the first fall of the internet.

This whole embrace the net shyt is totally new.

fukked up how they did em. Toys R Us should have tried innovating their own toys, apps/games, invest in new marketing. Can they still license the 'R Us' name?

Fam that’s why there are companies out there that get paid well to forcast these trends like i said Jeff Bazos saw that people were embracing the internet that’s why he started amazon he discovered this with simple research on his own even if toys r us discovered it at the same time they could’ve beaten him to the punch ...people were embracing the net as early as 2000 places like toys r us could’ve been switching their business model up

You’re right but guess what when amazon came out they only sold books! Toys r us could’ve used that platform to sell anything ...did you know there are tons of companies that sell shyt you dig get know they sold like hasboro the toy maker is also one of the biggest firearms dealers in the world? Smart companies supply the demand ...toys r us also had babies r us they sell clothes they could’ve evolved to all things home goods
