i get what you saying, i just include that in planning...and i dont think they planned this out all that well....

I think they did...i just have a feeling they planned it TOO well. like they just wanted to make sure it was set up in a certain way and not the right way

right/wrong isnt determined until afterwards, so that is whatever....as for them planning too well, i disagree...but we'll see...

I liked it. It's not a great movie, but it's enjoyable.

I'm seeing a lot of people online already critiquing the entire Dark Universe for not being like the originals from the 30s and 40s. Well, no shyt. This is 2017. You can never replicate the atmosphere and performances those movies have, and even if you tried, people would shyt all over it for trying to be too much like the originals. That slow Gothic style of horror wouldn't be appreciated anyway by most people. Certainly not enough people if you want to build a franchise.

The Universal Monsters deserve a place in the modern world... to be introduced to a new generation... and it has to be told in a different way from the original movies. These are action/adventure movies with horror/fantasy elements, and I'm fine with that.

Even though it's getting shytted on by critics, if it does end up doing well worldwide, it's still a chance Universal will continue with the Dark Universe concept.

I'm debating whether I should still go see it however.

Exactly. They put the cart before the horse. On the real, them trying to do a spider man universe, and labeling it that way, wasn't a good look then and I never felt it was a good look. Just make your movie. Close the loop. Set up lose strands for the next one yeah but close the fukking loop. They tried to go too big too quickly when the first movie worked so well being intimate and smaller and building the world from the inside out rather than outside in, which is how they reverse engineered it. They shoehorned Harry in there when it was clear from the first movie Peter had no idea who the hell Harry was:russ: ugh...wasted potential
I wanted that drew Goddard sinister six movie so bad :mjcry:

This movie was complete trash my gawd what utter rubbish. This is a worst beginning for a universe than DC and that's quiet a feat. The irony is that I enjoyed Dracula untold far more than this movie, that zero gravity plane scene was hyped by the film makers but it was nothing spectacular. A line uttered in this movie by Cruise twice is where is your sense of adventure and my reply is definitely not with this movie.

Just got back

This is not a good movie. It's bad. It's dull, creatively bankrupt and exists for no reason other than an entry point. There's barely a beginning middle or end.

The entire film exists just to set up more films instead of being a self contained film.

If you've seen the trailers you've seen pretty much every action scene and scene involving the mummy.

I saw it in 3D and I can't recommend staying away from 3d enough. The film is dark. You can barely make out the action.

The humour is awkward and falls completely flat.

I was excited to Dr jekyl and this movie failed at making me want to see more of him.

Just an all around misfire. It's right next to gotg 2 and alien covenant as the worst films I've watched this year.

There was one sequence I did enjoy,an underwater one,but that's about it.

4/10

It's going to be hard for me to care about this universe unless it gets better quick. This isn't a polarizing film,it's just flat and boring.

Honestly Dracula untold was better.

It was ok to me. I liked tom cruise and the fast and furious chick was sexy. The humor was cool i dont think it was too much. I died when tom tried to rush at the mummy head on only to get hooked into the ground.

If u saw the trailer u saw the whole movie except for the twist which i kinda digged only because it reminds me of castlevania lords of shadow story a bit. I hope universal sticks with it just so i can see where this shyt ends up. At least a phase on to wrap up tom's story arc

Saw it yesterday....

The humor was cheesey and uninspiring
Didn't like Russell Crowe character
Tom Cruise was a bad fit for the role, I just couldn't get into the character
I fell asleep 3 times in the movie

The only positives was the airplane scene and the fact that the run time was less than 2 hrs
