In context, in boxing highest levels Mayweather has weak strength at this point in his career. If Connor learned anything tonight, its that Floyd's right straight to the head AND to the body were some shyt he's never had to deal with in his life.

"Power" is fukking relative. I like McGregor, but his power doesn't translate to boxing - and even if it did, its nothing close to what Mayweather's seen through his career. If he had anything close to real, boxing power that uppercut would've broken Mayweather's neck with the way that Floyd jumped into it. Instead, Mayweather felt it was best to set up a tent with his forehead on McGregor's chest.

Nobody does that in professional boxing.
That's like Kyrie saying he's going to drop 40 with all buckets in the paint, no free throws, and no dribbling :dead:

You're right about Floyd....but yes, there are fighters that fight that way exclusively in Boxing like Shawn Porter.

Wouldn't go past the first round, It would be just as bad as CM punk stepping into the octagon. All respect to Floyd his name will resonate 50 years from now as another Rocky Marciano. He won't be considered the greatest but he will be up there as a fighter nobody could figure out.

However I feel this is a big moment for MMA. The fact that someone who has never boxed a professional bout was competitive and landed more shots than Manny Pac will tilt younger people who saw this fight towards following MMA more than boxing.

Floyd would likely get rag dolled in the UFC and its pretty obvious judging by how Conor was able to move him and toss him when locked up. None of Floyd's boxing defense would matter in a full fledged fight unless he literally runs away.

This is that moment that moves the needle for the UFC, you may not realize it but believe this is that moment.

I don't watch ESPN to listen to analysis from Stephen A on boxing, nor Teddy Atlas, but the post you are replying to isn't wrong.
Floyd had declined and would be getting in tough fights at 147 and 154 if he tried to continue to fight against the young guys in those divisions now.
He is one of the greatest of his generation and we'll leave it at that but as a fighter he has said he doesn't want to fight the young guys
Not having the desire to compete doesn't equate to not having the ability. He still has the ability to beat everyone at 47&54 but his heart and mind isn't 100% committed anymore.

He's 40 so obviously he has declined some but you cats are going overboard. He's been passed his prime for years. The fight last night went exactly according to plan yet some people seem to think differently. That's my point here. I didn't see any erosion in skills.

and thats why floyd never took shots at mma or conor mcgregor
delete this stupid ass thread:camby:

Doesn't matter young people will see it as boxing being a boring sport compared to MMA and inferior. If conor can easily compete against Floyd in Boxing and Floyd probably gets tossed into tomorrow in MMA. MMA will be the cooler edgier more real sport.

Combat has evolved and this is a page turner

Fight was worth the watch

Connor to me could have kept goin the stop was too early

Now if that's boxing rules so be it but to me Floyd was landing punches but he wasn't gonna knock him out

It was Conner exhausted more than Floyd actually doing damage

But that's part of it can you make it 12 ends
