Successful GAAS need continuous post launch content. Have you not been paying attention to games like Fortnite or Destiny?
The thing is that the multiplayer suite was solid, but really only as a side piece to the single player game. It doesn’t have enough legs to monetize and sustain a live service model on its own
Like what the fukk cosmetics and gear do they expect whales to be pouring money to? Tattered up flannels and colored backpacks? What kind of rewards are gonna be worth paying and grinding through a battlepass for?
What crossover characters can work for promo? Once you burn through the Walking Dead collab, what else fits in that kind of game that’s gonna bring more attention to it? Family Guy and DBZ in TLoU ain’t hitting like it is in Fortnite.
Games like Destiny, Fortnite, and GTA Online all have more than enough things going on thematically and gameplay-wise that give you multiple way to do crossover promos or simply give you a ton of cool shyt to grind for whether it be exotic guns, cars, funny emotes, etc. TLoU doesn’t really have that and really shouldn’t be expected to it given the style of game it is
They shoulda put it out as a supplement game mode to the main game like they did in the first one and leave it at that
