But I have been stressed and barely sleeping
My sister is 25 and she's slim and had a stroke,
I do a cardio class, either boxing or HIIT workout, 3-4 times a week. 90 minute sessions.
Mom says it's genetics or there could be some other underlying condition. Could be a kidney issue
I'm 5'9" 188 lbs. I used to be 240 lbs at the height of the pandemic. I had sleep apnea but not anymore.
I don't smoke or do any drugs. My only real vices are food and I go out clubbing until super late
I scheduled an appointment but it's in mid-March. So I'm just gonna go harder on cardio and cut out butter and salt and other bad food items in the meantime
You need to figure out what this is. If it is something like polycystic kidney disease, then it could be something that requires a fairly different approach. You'd need a CT of the kidney area but your insurance will want an US done first, which is fine. Like someone mentioned, it could also be due to a lipid issue so statins would be needed.
That said, you need to see a doctor as soon as possible. Mid-march is too far away for a BP reading like this. Like others have said, you will have to cut salt down considerably. Be wary of too many sugary drinks, be wary of stress, be wary of not getting enough sleep, and so on. The doctor will want another reading but he'll also more than likely prescribe some meds for you. This is where things get tricky because he or she will probably avoid certain meds first like ACE inhibitors since you're black but those meds may be useful and in many black people they do work wonders so if the initial ones he gives you are not working, consider pushing for those to be tried. So if a med doesn't seem to be working (it'll take you full 1-2 weeks to realize this) or is doing too much (for example if he prescribes a diuretic and it is working too well, leaving you feeling tired and looking gaunt), then you'll want to switch.
You'll most likely be prescribed 2 meds off the bat and get sent for various labs. Make sure to mention the issue with your sister and the possibility of it being due to a kidney issue so they will know to look there. This reading isn't the end of the road but it is something you shouldn't ignore.
