nah they call me a proud black man
what do your friends in maine call you?
I'm sure they do.
You're just another tom who chose to ostracize himself from his community. When you talk about black issues, I laugh, you're way out of your depth and anyone can see it.

I dont think anyone thinks that.I don't like to throw the word c00n around, but I do find it interesting how some black conservatives when talking about the collapse of the black family seem to think that 50 years of welfare>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>500+ years of slavery, segregation, lynchings, institutionalized racism, prison industrial complex, unfair drug sentencing laws, police brutality, redlining etc.

I think the point being made is that the breakdown of the nuclear family coincides with the introduction of welfare, and the slowing/reversal of this trend coincides with the reform of welfare.
Could be coincidence, sure, but to call some one a c00n for thinking they might be related is ridiculous...
but i expect no less.
Lets also point out that this breakdown occured across the globe not just to blacks... making slavery an unlikely factor.
what is your explanation for the fact that african american families did not break up after slavery and during jim crow
and do you believe that white people hold your fate in their hands?
Its about recognizing your current status AND your potential as well. But I agree pride comes before a fall, but arrogance is one of America's defining traits, but so is uniting in a struggle. We will see which one is our true defining trait as times get rougher
correlation does not imply causation. I think a myriad of factors are responsible. I also think things are getting better.
As for the second question.
Acknowledging that systemic racism has negatively affected the black community and preaching self-reliance/independence are not mutually exclusive.
Don't have an exact explanation, I do acknowledge there was a period between the end of the Civil War and Jim Crow's rise where black people were doing quite well and the white establishment didn't always with Rosewood, the destruction of Black Wall St., rise of the Klan etc.that isnt what i asked you, im actually neutral about that thesis, but im asking if you have an explanation of why the black family did not break and apparently got stronger after slavery and then got worse during the 60's
Didn't mean to single you out and not accusing you specifically. Just seems that most black conservatives are loathe to talk about or even worse downplay the effects of systemic racism.yeah exactly, so why do you interpret somebody preaching self reliance and independence as meaning somebody is not acknowledging racism
the core issue isnt acknowledging slavery or racism, the core issue is what are you going to do about it

How so?
