nah they call me a proud black man

what do your friends in maine call you?

:heh:

I'm sure they do.

You're just another tom who chose to ostracize himself from his community. When you talk about black issues, I laugh, you're way out of your depth and anyone can see it.

I don't like to throw the word c00n around, but I do find it interesting how some black conservatives when talking about the collapse of the black family seem to think that 50 years of welfare>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>500+ years of slavery, segregation, lynchings, institutionalized racism, prison industrial complex, unfair drug sentencing laws, police brutality, redlining etc.

I dont think anyone thinks that.

I think the point being made is that the breakdown of the nuclear family coincides with the introduction of welfare, and the slowing/reversal of this trend coincides with the reform of welfare.
Could be coincidence, sure, but to call some one a c00n for thinking they might be related is ridiculous...
but i expect no less. :obama:

Lets also point out that this breakdown occured across the board not just to blacks... making slavery an unlikely factor.

correlation does not imply causation. I think a myriad of factors are responsible. I also think things are getting better.:leon:
As for the second question.:mindblown: :rudy: Acknowledging that systemic racism has negatively affected the black community and preaching self-reliance/independence are not mutually exclusive.:manny:

Its about recognizing your current status AND your potential as well. But I agree pride comes before a fall, but arrogance is one of America's defining traits, but so is uniting in a struggle. We will see which one is our true defining trait as times get rougher

Yes, and we will both grow old arguing both sides but there is always a defining factor in the inevitable, the desperation before the fall. I hope you read this and then decides to read up on the U.S. economy and understand the severity of the financial fiasco that is bubbling in the background.

that isnt what i asked you, im actually neutral about that thesis, but im asking if you have an explanation of why the black family did not break and apparently got stronger after slavery and then got worse during the 60's

Acknowledging that systemic racism has negatively affected the black community and preaching self-reliance/independence are not mutually exclusive.:manny:

yeah exactly, so why do you interpret somebody preaching self reliance and independence as meaning somebody is not acknowledging racism

the core issue isnt acknowledging slavery or racism, the core issue is what are you going to do about it

Don't have an exact explanation, I do acknowledge there was a period between the end of the Civil War and Jim Crow's rise where black people were doing quite well and the white establishment didn't always with Rosewood, the destruction of Black Wall St., rise of the Klan etc.

Didn't mean to single you out and not accusing you specifically. Just seems that most black conservatives are loathe to talk about or even worse downplay the effects of systemic racism.

im not a black conservative, but i just believe in intellectual freedom, but i agree with downplaying the effects of systematic racism, i think its important to fight for individual freedom but white people and any individual has the right to be racist

i think the whole "fighting racism" notion is a corny leftist construct

Have you checked any books by Claude Anderson at all. Read "Black labor, White wealth" . He easily dismantles the Sowell's argument that blacks are lazy and could have easily mimicked immigrants.Dr. Anderson provides clear evidence of years of systemic racism blocking Black peoples way. Sowell
is product of a Hoover institute a conservative think tank. He talks in circles an avoids the issues and
has NO really advice for Blacks.

Read Black, Labor White Wealth. Please!
