But let’s be honest, no one really wanted to see that.
Regardless of if you think he had a chance to beat Will up or just to see Will wash him since he overwhelmingly outweighs him and probably at minimum has a little more experience in fighting.
Them fighting wasn’t anything that needed to be seen and would’ve proved nothing.

Serious question: do you all think that Will Smith will be able to ever live this incident down? It’s kind of ingrained with his Oscar win. It might’ve taken over The Streaker incident or the La La Land/Moonlight mishap as the show’s most infamous moment. When they do a career introspective down the line, I can see them saying “Although Smith finally won the Academy Award in his third try, the night will mostly be remembered for him walking on stage, and slapping Chris Rock in the face after an ill timed joke.”
It won’t ruin his career. He’s accomplished too much, but it will definitely NOT be a small thing barely mentioned in a career retrospective.
History will PROBABLY be kinder to Chris on the matter than Will because Chris is a comedian, the joke was mild, and it can be argued that the joke itself was just Chris doing his “Job”. Chris Rock has joked and mocked celebrities in EVERY SINGLE awards show he’s ever spoken at.
But at the end of the day Will Smith is one of the biggest stars Hollywood has ever produced, and unarguably the biggest BLACK acting star Hollywood has ever produced. There’s too many historics and highs for it to tarnish his legacy.
Remember this is an industry that once gave a STANDING OVATION to Roman Polanski, a man who admitted to raping a 13 year old girl and fled overseas to avoid prosecution. Hollywood is quick to forgive and forget when you make money. Bad Boys 4 is going to make money. From there all he has to do is rejoin the DCEU or join the MCU or do another Men In Black sequel, etc. Will’s only wild card to a successful comeback is Jada. She seems to LOVE bringing him down as soon as he’s up so we’ll see how that goes.
Chris got his “revenge” already, so after the hype dies down everybody can move on

Finally watched this. It's really hilarious and fitting that his special is called "Selective Outrage" because the public discourse on this special is sooooo misleading. It's hilarious and Rock goes in everyone. I really enjoyed it.
