This thread is a sobering look for all the cowards screaming for Obama to drop them thangs on Assad but wouldnt sign up to go fight. This whole Syria thing reeks of contractors up to no good trying stir up some shyt so they can get more sales. It's truly sickening.

If I may, what was the worst thing you saw while deployed OP

Man, I've seen some much shyt that I couldn't really process it until much later. The worst involved children, but not just the deaths though. What keeps me up at night sometimes is just remembering the look on their faces. Seeing some of those young kids just look at you, not with hatred or admiration of any sort, but confusion and sadness. It's like they were looking for answers and there is no answer that could ever suffice. That bothers me more than anything else.

I could write forever about some of the things I witnessed or was part of, but it's common for a lot of people in the infantry, especially the Marine Corps infantry in the Sunni Triangle from about early 2004 to late 2006. A lot of urban warfare at that place and time.

Come you masters of war
You that build all the guns
You that build the death planes
You that build all the bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks.

You that never done nothin'
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it's your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
When the fast bullets fly.

Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain.

You fasten all the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you set back and watch
When the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion'
As young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud.

You've thrown the worst fear
That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood
That runs in your veins.

How much do I know
To talk out of turn
You might say that I'm young
You might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know
Though I'm younger than you
That even Jesus would never
Forgive what you do.

Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul.

And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand over your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead.

War is necessary such as catastrophes/natural disasters :yeshrug:

I learned that from one of my economics teacher in HS

Your teacher may have been a quack. You can form your own mind about these things.

Damn dog you were in Fallujah?! I just watched a mini doc about it on the military history channel and that shyt was no joke. Those Iraqs weren't going without a fight. Did your morals interfere with your duties as a soldier at any point or is it pretty much "better them than me" when you're getting shot at? How did you and your fellow soldiers view the people you were fighting? Was it straight fukk em or was there any remorse?

Sorry for all the questions but I hardly get to talk to soldiers in my everyday life.

No problem. First I have to say that I was in the Marine Corps and we call ourselves Marines. While we are used as ground infantry, there is actual tactical difference between a Marine and a soldier, even if wasn't really evident in the Middle East/South Asia operations. Better training and discipline for one. I love my Army brehs but they know.

My morals? Very rarely. I did a lot of maturing while in there, but even more so when I got out. I started to view the world differently.

As far as returning fire or engaging, it's a matter of survival of self and your fellow Marines. That is priority.

People viewed the enemy in different ways. There was a lot of anti-Islam vibes going around obviously and some looking down upon their society/culture. There was also a form of respect for some of the enemy snipers out there and also for their IED crews, even if they brought death to our side, at times you just had to remove the context and almost appreciate the ingenuity and skill. Remorse for dead enimies was non-existent, and remorse for adults who were caught up as collateral damage was rare. Dead children was different though. We had a lot of foreign fighters in our A.O. (Area of Operations) which would later help the Iraqis have the Sunni Awakening and begin working with the US. I remember towards the end of my 2nd deployment you could feel the shift coming. These foreign fighters would set off VBIEDs in the middle of a crowded street or market to take out one or two US troops, but would kill a lot of Iraqis at the same time, including children.

Go fukk Yourself. Say that shyt in New York and not around your yuppie transplant friends and you'll get curb stomped till your face is slush you little prick.
No one on this board takes you seriously. Go run along somewhere, this is a serious thread. You're not welcome. While you were "traveling the world" my cousins and friends were fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq. Some of them are still tapped from that. While you were "traveling the world" I was sitting with my friends wondering if our relatives who worked in the tower or close to it died or not. I'm the person who flips on people on here for making 9-11 jokes. So miss me with this fake drama, and your fake outrage. I usually find you amusing, but you just look foolish. You post, sound and act like a yuppie who specializes in jocking Israel and trolling Muslims while pretending to be black. Maybe, that's why when you actually had to sit down and read a post that you couldn't respond to with an image of a woman in a hajib you blurted out this uneducated drivel instead of taking the time to realize I meant relinquishing civil rights, whatever moral standing we had, turning to utter fear, etc. Countries that deal with that threat all the time are better able to cope with things like that mentality, and they won't go around cheerleading for war and making jokes out of impending deaths of civilians like you do.

Stop wasting my time. Your act is tired. Supposedly reporters cover war so that we can see what's actually happening out there, but apparently it just allows people like you to treat it like a movie.

Ahh the man trapped in the Ivory Tower. So you yourself are now admitting that Americans aren't immune from the horrors of war.
Are you ever not out of your depth? If you could only see how comical you really are. I'm probably not from New York or here right now.
Oh boy tell me another, I'm already rolling. Do you even understand what the women in the hijab I posted earlier was about? No, of course you don't.
You've got a stick up your ass longer than a 150ft flagpole flying the stars and bars. Get off your high horse, and come down from your tower. That's where the real people are. All that time spent out in west bumble fukk and you still can't form a proper argument..
