Sony is in the lead because they had a leading start, and from the gate even before they had 1st party studios dropping games they were locking up 3rd party exclusives for ps1, that hasn't changed and shocker they still are in the lead.

I just gave you like +5 examples of different third party exclusivity deals MS has this generation alone. Kojima wasnt just at Xbox's E3 show announcing a new exclusive?

The funny thing is that all the games you mentioned are now on Playstation, most less than 8 months later. But on sony's end Death loop took a year and the only reason it probably wasn't extended is because you guessed MS bought the company, and even with that once the year deal was about to end they give it away for free one month before. COD has a 7 SEVEN year deal and FF7 aint no where to be found yet and its almost 2023. And MS still aint got ghost wire tokyo and they own the brand now



On the other hand, tunic, medium, and the ascent are indies, the kojima game is happening mostly because of the cloud tech and stalker for all intents and purposes is indie also.

So its not even in the same realm of being close. Sony out here blocking and stop big 3rd party games and franchises, MS is getting timed exclusives on niche and indie games AND putting them all on gamepass so you don't even have to buy a xbox is you don't want too. While giving them a bag for being on gamepass.

Other than that microsoft doesn’t have any 3rd party exclusives that aren’t indie games for like 6 months.

Not even sure what the hell you are talking about here. PS2 is still the best selling console of all time. And that was well before microsoft even thought about getting into gaming.

It's been going on forever, my memory goes back further than the 360 era when it comes to exclusive deals. I know nintendo was the 1st to be like if you want to be on Nintendo you have to do this this and this.
I also know that Playstation followed suite with the ps1 and buying exclusive rights.
And I know MS followed suite and was successful with the same type of deals with the 360
They all do exclusive timed content but only one has crazy clauses and half decade stipulations but for the most part nintendo and MS don't really move like that anymore, which is basically them playing fair. Especially with phil having the blessing to spend what he needs, he seemed like he really thought that he could play nice long enough and things would smooth out and he really appears to believe in not taking games away from other platforms and gamers completely IF at all possible. But I think all that's going to the wind regardless of if this deal closes or gets blocked.
