Funny I was thinking that one when I read the post above yours but that one always sounded like a personal project to me - imagine the music someone like Dr. Dre makes for himself that just isn’t congruent with his brand or is just too ahead of its time for general consumptionBusta Rhymes on Cash Money
Dr. Dre album about the sounds of the planets
Mos Def album produced by Mannie Fresh
Kanye, Lupe and Pharrell super group
rick Ross and Birdman movie and collab album
I feel like everything he record is for himself.. I still want to hear the 3 tracks he did with DipsetFunny I was thinking that one when I read the post above yours but that one always sounded like a personal project to me - imagine the music someone like Dr. Dre makes for himself that just isn’t congruent with his brand or is just too ahead of its time for general consumption
I don't know what this means but I dapped this because I know it's ICP relatedMarz being in the original Dark Lotus
J Dilla in general. He’s revered in death but a lot of people hated on his shyt when he worked with Tribe, solo Q-Tip, and Pharcyde.
Not only what you guys said, but Madlib didn't fukk with Dilla at all originally. Dilla rapped on some of his beats without permission, and Madlib was pissed about that shyt. They ended up patching things over and working on JayLib together, but everyone overlooks that their relationship basically got started due to some friction.
EDIT: I'm tired as hell and @chunky_mcdaniels correctly pointed out that it was backwards. Dilla didn't fukk with Madlib to begin with after Madlib had rapped over some of his beats without permission.
Also, I think everyone forgets that Dilla's raps were nothing close to the subject matter of most of the people he's famous for producing for. Dilla's raps were all about strippers, three-ways, weed, heavy chains, big trucks, and even a fair amount of gun play. He had some of the most ignorant street raps ever, but gets put into this soulquarian/conscious box due to his affiliation with Tribe, Common, De La, Badu, etc.
Roc Marciano and Alchemist did an album in between Marcberg and Reloaded (before Roc blew up on the indie scene) and Roc was asking so much for it from labels that no one wanted to pay for it. A friend of mine with a pretty dope ear was working at a label at the time, heard it, and surprisingly told me he didn't think it all that dope (even though he was a fan of both guys' music.) Alchemist also has a little project with Styles P somewhere in the vaults.
Juelz Santana was in a group called "Draftpick" and signed to Priority Records in 1997. They even had a single with Memphis Bleek in 1998. All this well before he signed with Dipset. He does mention Draftpick sometimes, but rarely.
This actually happened and I swear Mike's video has been scrubbed from the internetBig Boi shytting on killer Mike in character as Marcus from ATL, killer Mike responding in tears saying he murdered him on every song they did together.
That shyt is on Netflix nowThat Q Tip movie wasn't Carmen, it was Prison Song
