Anyone else feel like they are outgrowing hip hop?

The constant drama, the negativity, the beef, the shooting, the killings. the fed cases.


Feels like this shyt has become a baston of negativity.

But maybe getting older is realizing that this is what hip hop ALWAYS WAS


From Biggie and Tupac to Jay and Nas to Fif and Ja Rule to Drake and Kendrick. and all the shootings beef jailtime, sleeping with baby mothers and court cases in between.


None of this shyt is new. This has always been happening. Maybe getting older is being able to be more cognizant of it. Also the fact that there has been a signicant drop in quality mainstream rap music makes it even more glaring.


The shenanigans is the show. at least back in the day we had some good tunes. Bet ya nikkas cant even name three Quando Rondo songs. But you can name three shootings tied to that nikka

Balance it out. Try other genres and other languages.

This is 2024 and at least 20 years since most people had easy access to the internet. You can find the music you want to listen to and not deal with "mainstream" rap if that is what you want. No excuse not to do it if you do not like what is being put out.

There's a lot of dope hip hop MUSIC being released. Unfortunately the Coli spends so much time focused on fukkery instead of actual music discussions.

This. I never understood the whole "outgrown" thing. Music isn't like going to summer camp or playing on the slide. It's for everyone. No matter where you are in life, there's music that speaks to you.

If you liked Illmatic in 1994, maybe you'll like Magic 3 in 2024. Ignore the trash and listen to the hip hop that represents your state of mind.

If you’re really a hip hop head you don’t outgrow hip hop. You grow with hip hop. Wherever you are in life there is a soundtrack that can accompany that. Do the work and find it.

as a person your wisdom is also supposed to grow.... meaning you should grow to be a distinguished and nuanced consumer at some point.
it sounds childish to think "hip hop" is just one sound or one form of content. you can surely find something you enjoy just as you do movies, tv, etc. there is no difference

on the other hand, if it wasn't really your thing to begin with and you were just trying hard to fit in then yeah i get it. i know a lot of caucasians like that
