here's the thing about hell right.
Be it fire and brimstone or not, you have ample time NOT to get into it.

.
There's a reason you're reborn in Christ, as they say. That's when you become a child of God. Ergo the importance of belief and commitments.

It's a tough pill to swallow sometimes that God, ultimately, will sentence so many to torment, but given that it is the choice of those people I can hardly fault him for sticking by what he said he's gonna do.

That white throne judgment though...

Do you believe that everything that happens is God's will?

I see where this is going but...
yes...
with the understanding that "God's Will" is to allow people to make our own choices. I can't pretend to know God's Will though.
Job 38-41 NIV - The LORD Speaks - Then the LORD spoke - Bible Gateway
pretty much the ultimate STFU sit the fuk down but it serves a purpose in this type of discussion.

We really cannot fathom what God is or does or how he sees and comprehends.

Even my attempt at describing him fall so far short that it's laughable...yet i try.

So...God's will can be to know all ends yet both know and not know what ends we will choose...:manny: he's God he can do shyt like that.

IF you believe God is who he is then this makes sense, if you don't then obviously you find issue with the supernatural aspect of it...but really if you pretend for a second that there is this all powerful being, literally ALL powerful, then try to pretend like your gonna understand him in his entirety?

The closest and best example that most people relate to is Dr. Manhatten from The Watchmen, now take that and multiply it by infinity and you start to get a rough picture as to what God TRULY is like.

NO ONE HAS ACTUALLY ANSWERED THE OP'S QUESTION, BROTHER! WE'VE DERAILED INTO A DIFFERENT DEBATE ABOUT WHAT THE WORD SIN MEANS, WHICH GOD'S RULES WE SHOULD DISCUSS, AND THE SEPARATE ISSUE OF PREDESTINATION!

WILL SOMEONE DIRECTLY ANSWER THIS, PLEASE:

Christians specifically, but I know there's a substantial Muslim population in The Coli as well:

Why do you consciously sin?

If you think that there's a supernatural being, that constantly watches over you, and has a set of rules that he specifically wants you to follow, why don't you make a bigger effort not to break those rules?

If you think your God cannot be in the presence of sinful people, and will damn people who are not truly repentant for sins to a place of fire and torture and anguish ... why not devout your entire existence to that God? Why not set aside Earthly items, and focus solely on worshiping that being, spreading the gospel, and saving other souls who may not have heard the good news? Why do you need a job, why do you need money? Don't you think if you did this, God would provide for you?

I appreciate your thoughts, friends.

It's been answered. You can't NOT sin, it's impossible. No one is perfect and try as you might you're gonna fail. IT's not for lack of trying, but people are selfish and do bad things.

I have made an effort not to break those rules. I've done some pretty despicable things in my life that I've tried to justify due to circumstance, but the nature of my religiosity and morality have prohibited me from continuing those acts. Life is more complicated for those of us at the bottom of the socio-economic spectrum, so there are varying degrees of what one can consider to be justified or moral at the time being, and therefore I have mitigated the sinfulness of my life trajectory using my faith as a barometer for what is totally unacceptable.

Yeah but, why not become a monk or something? Would definitely decrease your likelihood of sinning, no?

YOUR EXCUSE FOR DISOBEYING A GOD YOU BELIEVE IS ALL-KNOWING AND ALL-POWERFUL IS THAT HE MADE YOU POOR, BROTHER? I WOULD FIND THAT INSULTING IF I WERE A REGULAR GOD INSTEAD OF JUST A WRESTLING GOD!

You're over simplifying something, that I intently described to you as complex. YOU would find it insulting if you were god. I don't try and predict how God will judge me for my transgressions I simply try and limit them. I don't live a point A to point B life, I tried to explain to you the concept of a complex life, but you are obviously some kind of CAC so this is perhaps alien to you.

:manny: we've all seen how priests do, monks sin as well. It's a common misconception that Christians are perfect :mindblown: both Christians and non-believers tend to for get that Christians are just people too.

Sure, but if you were in a situation like that where you're away from the clubs, secluded from all that shyt, wouldn't it make temptation even that smaller? Seems to me your chances to get into heaven would only increase. Not saying you'd be a perfect human, but it seems like it would be easier compared to a secular world where sex and drugs is readily available.

yeah but then how would i spread the word of god to those people who need it...as I'm commanded?

It's a balancing act. On the one hand I don't need to sinning like those I'm trying to help, on the other hand "who lights a lamp then puts it under a bowl"?

Why do you consciously sin?

It is impossible NOT to sin. Even if you think or feel it in your heart and don't act on it, it is considered a sin. All mankind are considered sinners except for Jesus. Instead of consciously trying not to sin, we ask for mercy and repentance in our prayers for our sins.

If you think that there's a supernatural being, that constantly watches over you, and has a set of rules that he specifically wants you to follow, why don't you make a bigger effort not to break those rules?

When Jesus fulfilled the Old testament he left us with only 2 new commandments to follow.

1."Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind". 2 "Love your neighbor as yourself,"

I don't look at them as "rules" but rather an example left to us on how to live our lives daily.

If you think your God cannot be in the presence of sinful people, and will damn people who are not truly repentant for sins to a place of fire and torture and anguish ... why not devout your entire existence to that God? You can spread the gospel just by setting an example with your actions and what you do and giving praise to the Lord for your accomplishments. As for earthly items/money, its not that you cant have them but not to put them ahead of the Lord, or "serve two masters"

And God WILL provide for you, all you have to do is pray.

"I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

"You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden."
