You hated that song too
?He's putting you there,he's painting the picture, giving you her mindset.....I think this is you looking for Pac again, looking for Brendas got a baby which is more cinematic from front to back
.......theres more than one way to tell a story though....He wasn't as direct as Pac and his story didn't follow no trajectory and steadily lead up to a climax....but Kendrick did great giving you the visual, putting you there, following the theme of how Keisha was used on every level, and not protected by people who were supposed to do the right thing, from grown men,to police,to her mama
...Nothing about this song feels like "amateur" poetry,or story telling.
I guess your going to say its his fault if people compare it to Brendas got a Baby, since he has Keisha listening to it in the song
?Nah man, once again inspiration does not mean imitation....Im sure Brendas got A Baby was a inspiration for this song since he mentioned it in the song, but he told a story in his own way....I think its every bit as good as Brendas Got A Baby,Kendricks had a secondary level to it Pacs didn't....the reference to the back seat theme actually had meaning as the song went on,as well as the theme highlighting Keisha being abused by those who should be protect a 17 year old girl, and wraps it up in a nice bow with the last verse where you really see why Keisha was destined to be so hopeless
...So his story follows a different trajectory, and has aspects Brendas Got a Baby doesn't,doesnt mean they not both great stories.
Unless of course you wanted Keishas Song to be Brendas Got a Baby,This is hiphop so its okay to compare, but its not okay to not like something because of the comparing
...And I think that's what a lot of Kendrick haters seem to do.
I don't think he's that dope because I will never like a spoken word rapper more than a rapper with god given or learned emcee talents....But I like him as what he is and he shows flashes.
Matter of fact I just thought about what you said, talkin about Wale is better than Kendrick
...Heeeelll nah bruh, and I'm not on the wale is wack train...But Wale in the same boat for as the poet/rapper thing as Kendrick...Difference is Kendricks knows which one is his strength, where as Wale tried to be a dope emcee with no extraordinary emcee talents in terms of lyricaly,flow,delivery,charisma....He would be better off realizing these weakness following Kendrick and trying to be moreso in that mold, utilzing his strengths as a poet, instead he thinks he can be Jay-Z
Real talk if you feel that song t

nikka u serious?
You can't see the difference?
Clearly a fake brenda gotta baby song and its weak as fukk, story doesnt sound believable at all. A 17 yr old hooker listening to brenda gotta baby on the ho stroll in 2011,lmao
I hear Brenda's got a baby
Well, Brenda's barely got a brain
A damn shame
Tha girl can hardly spell her name
(That's not her problem, that's up to Brenda's family)
Well let me show ya how it affects the whole community
Now Brenda never really knew her moms
and her dad was a junky puttin death into his arm
It's sad, cause I bet Brenda doesn't even know
Just cause your in the ghetto doesn't mean ya can't grow
But oh, that's a thought, my own revelation
Do whatever it takes to resist the temptation
Brenda got herself a boyfriend
Her boyfriend was her cousin, now lets watch the joy end
She tried to hide her pregnancy, from her family
Who didn't really care to see, or give a damn if she
Went out and had a church of kids
As long as when tha check came they got first dibs
Now Brendas belly is gettin bigger
But no one seems ta notice any change in her figure
She's 12 years old and she's having a baby
In love with a molester who's sexing her crazy
And yet she thinks that he'll be with her forever
And dreams of a world with tha two of them are together, whatever
He left her and she had tha baby solo
She had it on the bathroom floor and didn't know so
She didn't know, what ta throw away and what to keep
She wrapped the baby up and threw him in the trash heep
I guess she thought she'd get away, wouldn't hear the cries
She didn't realize how much tha the little baby had her eyes
Now tha babys in the trash heep balling
Momma can't help her, but it hurts to hear her calling
Brenda wants ta run away, momma say, you makin' me lose pay
The social workers here everyday
Now Brenda's gotta make her own way
Can't go to her family, they won't let her stay
No money no babysitter, she couldn't keep a job
She tried ta sell crack, but end up getting robbed
So now what's next, there ain't nothin left ta sell
So she sees sex as a way of leavin hell
It's payin tha rent, so she really can't complain
Prostitute, found slain, and Brenda's her name, she's got a baby
Baaaaaaaaby
(don't you know she's got a baby)
(don't you know she's got a baby)
(don't you know she's got a baby)
(don't you know she's got a baby)
(don't you know she's got a baby)
(don't you know she's got a baby)
