Of course all megas aint bad, but just as a human being, once you get that kind of money flowing it has to be awfully hard to not floss or get caught up.
one of my wife and I's high school friends went to school at the ITC (Interdenominational Theological Center) out at the AUC after he got his bachelor's so that he could become an preacher (his grandfather was a big AME preacher back where we lived in SC). The stories he had about the fukkery (LITERALLY) going on at that school with both male and female students studying to become preachers was rediculous.
I do think the majority of preachers are doing and start out wanting to do the right thing, but the money can fukk you up.
The thing I always ask myself though when looking at these affluent pastors is, and I'm not trying to be funny, "What would Jesus Do???"
I doubt VERY seriously he would be rolling around in a bentley and having his church members struggling. I doubt he'd have a million dollar house(s) with homeless people everywhere, etc. This is why I personally can't get with a mega church.
I agree wholeheartedly...
My pops graduated from ITC (i remember the Atl area vaguely, I was like 4 or 5) and has made a living being a very good and connected CME pastor...We not balling by no means. but people see these NON-DENOMINATIONAL CHURCHES and their mega churches and equate that with the local Baptist/Methodist church that's been there for 100+ years...
All pastors not living like kings (and queens) a lot do the right thing and lead souls to Christ while bringing home a modest salary (which my parents tithe as well as going above and beyond (they won't see it like that) to put more money into the church (people, ministries, etc))
