Just saw it.

Predictable and low budget. Not a terrible movie but it was exactly what I thought it would be. It's a physiological thriller that to be honest would be the same movie if they claimed it wasn't associated with the original cloverfield movie at all. It almost seems as if that association with cloverfield was made as an afterthought and marketing gimmic now that I think about it cause the only scenes that somewhat links it were at the end.

Thread title should add "... and it is ass, just like the first one". It's basically a cheap PG-13 thriller that trades suspense for fukkery, which might entertain some people although I hated how flat and boring it all was. You can pretty much tell this was just some garbage ass B-shlock screenplay Abrams & co got people to do a quick rewrite over to turn it into a "Cloverfield" franchasse movie. It features one of the most hilariously blunt on-the-nose character arcs I've ever seen in films which consists literally of just the opening scene, midway monologue and the end, and the clumsy way they put the title in the movie just shows how unimaginative they were in selling this trash on a brand name.

Also, regarding its relation to the original movie:

I was actually hyped for this too. I hate how commercials making it seem like some scary ass event movie. I had a feeling it was all hype.
