Dark souls combat is trash

nikkas need to stop talking like games are in a vacuum. Dark Souls combat is simple and deliberate but it has fantastic level design, enemy placement, and enemy combination that takes advantage of its simplicity.

i don't really think that's fair to look at a game like Monster Hunter and say there's no growth potential (through gameplay, enemy diversity, progression, etc) in the game. it pretty much lays out from the start everything you'll be able to do. a skill tree isn't the only form of progression. you can be as creative as you want really. a lot of games won't even attempt to entertain that idea.

that being said, personal bias - MH is not as good as other games in the genre... i just think its getting a raw deal on certain fronts because its not immediately action packed out the gate. i blame reviewers for lacking the vocabulary necessary to differentiate certain elements of the game compared to other action RPGs out there. but we've known reviewers are lazy as fukk chumps who suck at gaming anyways.

if anything the game's issues come to light much later in the game lol. that's always where these games sink or swim.

I almost always solo these games. So when I'm forced into Coop because of bullshyt that's essentially a larger than necessary health pool I start checking out.

We have similar mindsets (I was the kinda person who wanted to solo raids in Destiny) but MH is so cool because how it feels to work together to take down a boss. The mechanics, movement, and variety is so good now that it feels good to have people fit into these roles or even learning how to turn roles on their head.

Dark souls got interesting enemies, but I've seen better combat in other games.:ld:but back to MH, i agree.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
gamefly is the answer to all y'all problems... that and redbox

blockbuster went away and nikkas forgot about renting games. you know how many hundreds to thousands of dollars i have saved, by renting games? I'd have probably bout 20-30 games on the ps4 alone, that weren't worth shyt after you beat it. or more importantly, weren't worth 3 days of gaming

the worst thing that happened to gaming, was people not actually playing the games first, themselves. either at the store, a friends, or renting first. now we rush out to order first day and even pre order fukking games :gucci:

i mean i do it too.. but think about that. we actually pay money, to get GAMES we never saw or played ourselves, with no way of taking them back if we don't like them. certain series i love, and i know it'll be a yearly purchase. but if i never played monster hunter, i don't give a damn about some ratings. you not getting my 60 bucks before i lay hands on it.

I still think it's a good game and the combat is very complex. Stuff like the wall jump, the grappling hook and mounting are cool ways to make the combat more diverse.
I was just heated a major feature of the game is straight up broken on Xbox and it got swept under the rug

Oh and it's still not an RPG :umad:

If this game was an xbox exclusive Meach would love it. :pachaha:
To be fair, one of the major features of the game (online co-op with randoms) is straight up broken on Xbox, with no fix in sight.
I would hope Meach would call out a game for having a broken feature, exclusive or not

Ehhh. Yes and no.

I'll say no because in a game like WoW(or other popular MMO's), the really fun content starts once you hit max level and begin raiding or PVPing. That takes a couple of days of non-stop grinding to level up to whatever max level is right now(if you actually know what you're doing on top of that). That's not bad game design because a lot of people like the grind, and there is enough story content and game mechanics constantly unlocking to keep people engaged even if they don't power to the endgame.

I also say yes because a game like FF XIII suffers from too much linear progression in terms of moving the story forward with a battle system that pretty much coasts on auto-pilot until 28349781293074890 hours and 4 discs later and you finally reach the open-world aspect that FF games have always been known for. THAT was bad game design. Horrid.

As far as MH goes, it's a niche title. I've played it on the 3DS, and have played MH clones on my PS Vita. They're fun for a bit but eventually that wears thin. I will probably cop because I know I can get atleast 100 hours out of it while I own it, but having played the series, it's not one I'm rushing to cop for full retail. Sorry you ain't dig the game breddren.
First rational reply to rational criticism. I would rep you if I could, but take this dap.
