the children of pros will make better pros

not necessarily better highlight clips or high scores

but better at being the type of pro that fits into a winning culture

egocentric players only work outside the nba now

that model of success is dead & buried by stars who can step aside for their teammates to play mob.style hoops

Things aren’t going to change in USA

Too many trainers popping up on IG. And all these kids can afford it and

Everyone playing AAU for clout basically not for fun/culture and love

Nobody learns the game the natural way in parks and driveways anymore

Pickleball will soon replace basketball in most gyms :skip:

Maybe kids need to start playing in college longer not Overtime elite :manny:

I see the women’s game is developing though :leon:

And the European system has kids playing organized basketball in leagues early with grown men & real competition and coaching

Basketball here is more entertainment driven.

And honestly, this extra emphasis on finding foreign talent started early with the Spurs. Manu and Tony Parker. Dirk. It has become an even bigger thing with the development of Giannis, Embiid, and Jokic

Even though this is the reality, there are players with the same or similar level of physical gifts, talent, and work ethic as those 3 out there in AMERICA that get NO attention. Because of the favoritism
Yeah if your parents can't afford to put you in AAU, can't get you a skills trainer to work on your weakness etc. Your shyt out of luck. There are people who had potential to be really good players but due to coach favoritism etc. They don't even let them on the team at their school.
This site isn't ready for any serious convo. Nowhere except Higher Learning and The Root. And even then those sections arent nearly as active. I gave up a few days ago
:unimpressed:
You should make a discord server and just add those who you think are serious about conversation

It’s politics in school sports. I’ve seen first hand how this kid may get promoted cuz their parents lawyers or prominent in the community. Or because the parent is this or that the kid get majority of the time. School ball is who about the coach of school want to promote what athletes to represent the school.

My nikka. What language is this you are speaking in because English may not be your strongest verbal or typed expression. You should try at least uno class of Spanish. Dos if the uno class doesn't help.

America is laughably behind in everything. Our education our infrastructure our health care. The British took over acting. Foreign directors win best difector. The last five MVPs are foreigners. Our women are trash
And all we do is make excuses and complain.

The Hollywood example is a perfect comp for the current NBA

USA been done ..

But we too prideful and used to being "#1" to actually look at ourselves .

do you want to be entertaining¿

or do you want to win¿

we have the best entertainers

our hoopers hoop more for the attention & clout

but the teams that win are full of players that will put that to the side

& i advocate heavily for isolation/1v1's blacktop hoops

but i can separate what i find most entertaining from what wins on the organized/professional level

smarten up..........

its not that "the USA is done"...
...but if you dont push yourself (or your parents) nobody is going to push you.

its real easy to be mediocre and just get by.

the overall culture doesnt push excellence...
...its about everyone being happy and "mental health"

the rest of the world doesnt operate like that...
...everywhere else its sink or swim.

I didnt notice it till I started to be around young people.
they barely get school work...
and what they get is mad easy.

Iso ball and 1vs1 ball isn’t that entertaining unless it’s the last 5 minutes of a close game or you’re team is in must need of points because nobody else on your team got anything going on.

Unless your Kyrie who’s an artist and does it effortlessly, unpredictably and within the flow of the game its usually trash.

Ironically iso ball is a reason why I hate watching Luka ball and he ain’t American.
