The difference is 90% of NBA champions needed a dominant big man to win the rings. Jordan was the exception to the rule along with a few other teams. That's what makes him different than his peers.

Kobe absolutely needed a dominant big man (shaq) or a star studded front line (Bynum, Gasol, Odom) to win. It's not an inditement on Kobe Bryant, but goes to show how unique the bulls were with jordan and pippen when they won titles against the mold, against the grain of champions past and present

lol holla wen MJ wins any title without a top 50 player of all time on his squad (lets not forget worthy on UNC team). bean won 2 without a top 50 all time player on his squad :jawalrus:

Flawed logic, how could someone be named a top 50 player when they weren't even in the league at the time of the list.

I guess lebron is better since he just won 1 without another top 50 all time player (according to the list)

That's says alot about you. But let's be honest, Kobe would not be so highly regarded if he weren't a laker.

this post was indecipherable :yeshrug:

I agree with this thread

It's usually the delusional kobe fanatics who overrated him historically

Most of them were born in 88-95 they don't know any better

Kobe was never the best player in the nba

The mutha****in BX
Let me preface this by saying Gasol is not the best center from 07-10, nor was he better than a prime yao or Howard.

However he was damn good his first 7 years and never made all nba because the PF position was absolutely stacked around that 02-07 era.

Look at who he had to compete with for all nba teams

Prime Duncan
Prime KG
Prime Dirk
Prime Post weed smoking Sheed Wallace
Prime/ Slightly pass prime C Webb
Prime Jermaine O'Neal
DPOY Ben Wallace
Prime Pre Injury Stat
All Star Kmart made by Jason Kidd
and others

whether he was a good player or not was in question. I'm talking about people using revisionist history regarding pre-laker pau.

and boozer and brand were all-nba selections when that position was stacked. he was a fringe 2nd-tier/3rd-tier player with the grizz.

i had a 3 day debate with some people who want to claim that Pau Gasol was a dominant player in Memphis and that Kobe could only win with a dominant post player. They genuinely believe this. Its the most disgusting thing ever.

I dont get why people dont want to give Kobe his due. I didnt even shyt on Gasol, I just dont think he was a great player before he went to the Lakers.

Gasol's numbers in Memphis were about what they have been in L.A, numbers that indicate he is a All star big man.

Kobe Bryant has not won a playoff series without Shaquille O'Neal or Pau Gasol. That is fact, not sure why it disgusts you to hear a fact.

Winning titles is mostly due to great circumstances (A great team around the best player), so naturally Kobe hasn't won anything without another star.

Ok. What has Shaq won without an elite wing (Kobe or Wade)? nothing
What has Jordan won without Pippen? nothing
What has Lebron won without Bosh or Wade? nothing

Instead of focusing on the players AROUND kobe, think about what he did. If i didn't know any better and i just read all yall haters posts, i'd think he was the 10th man off the bench only playing garbage minutes. I'd think he didn't contribute nothing in any of his titles cause that's what yall making it seem like. Yall make it sound like Kobe has had the only good team ever in the history of the league? Were the Heat this year not stacked? Were the bulls not stacked? Were the early 2000s lakers not stacked? Were the 08 Celtics not stacked? But with Kobe, it's like a fukkin sin that he had good players around him.

To all those who say kobe never won without a big man, well jordan never won without pippen either. IMO kobe never needed a big man but he did need just like jordan a solid number 2 scorer/assist guy which pau was..

Yes. Everyone needs help to win. That's why reaching to say Bryant is better than Wade and Garnett because he has mroe rings is unfair.

When Garnett (even past his prime) got a cast, he won a title and went to multiple finals. Give Wade a star teammate, you get rings.

The production these players had is a better indicator of who was better. But our generation is more fond of Bryant than other comparable stars and this becomes a conversation like this

Your right. Everyone needs help to win. Shaq, Wade, Jordan, Bryant, everyone.

So lets stop saying Kobe's five titles make him better than everyone else with comparable production when it's about the help you have.

Fair?

Wade? Based on what?

Wade has the same per game numbers as Bryant does for the career, with better cumulative efficiency across the board (FG%, eFG%, TS%, PER).

They are both pretty good defenders. Wade is more disruptive and Bryant is a bit better individually.

It's close, but when objectively comparing their production, it's not wrong to say Wade is equal or better.

Our generation seems to favor the player with more titles who played for the Lakers.
