Lakers don't get past the Kings without Kobe. And seeing as Pau wasn't doing much before Kobe, and disappeared last year, makes me question all this Pau lauding. Nikkaz just don't wannna give Kobe credit, that's what it comes down to. It was the same Jordan. It will be years after he retires before most of these nikkaz truly recognize his greatness in the league. This nikka has basically stayed relevant and been a top player in 3 NBA generations. 5 rings at that. Where was Shaq in Cleveland, Boston? And nikkaz keep talkin' about the Heat like they weren't gifted that championship. Don't hate, it's unbecoming.

I don't think Wade rates higher than Kobe all time(and this is a heat fan talking) although i do think wade is better all around right now(when healthy). But Kobe is one of the greatest of all time and that article that tried to put KG ahead of him? but i understand how Shaq and Duncan could be. Kobe was never the best player in the league for a 8 year stretch like Jordan was but he was the best player in the league for about 3 years in a row and a close second for at least 7. That says something because most of the players that are considered as "GOATS" have that accomplishment.

It's debatable that Kobe is still the best player NOW.

DWADE STILL CANT SHOOT all that well . so how on earth can he be called a top 5 player. FOOLISH speak.

he doesnt play lockdown defense on most nights. he plays decent defense playing the passing lanes and sneaky blocks. but he rarely plays real man to man defense. there were years where kobe has shown he could shut everyone down, until they changed the rules where you cant touch a guy at all on the perimeter.
there isnt a single player thats better then kobe from his era. period.

Let me preface this by saying Gasol is not the best center from 07-10, nor was he better than a prime yao or Howard.

However he was damn good his first 7 years and never made all nba because the PF position was absolutely stacked around that 02-07 era.

2nd as far as Pau Gasol was concerned, he was def a top 10 bigman playing on a shytty team prior to coming to the Lakers, his stats don't really show his overall talent level and was definitely a top 5 C/PF in the league in 06-07

The difference is 90% of NBA champions needed a dominant big man to win the rings. Jordan was the exception to the rule along with a few other teams. That's what makes him different than his peers.

Kobe absolutely needed a dominant big man (shaq) or a star studded front line (Bynum, Gasol, Odom) to win. It's not an inditement on Kobe Bryant, but goes to show how unique the bulls were with jordan and pippen when they won titles against the mold, against the grain of champions past and present
