My right trap is a problem area because of a pinched nerve injury I suffered years ago. I mean I shrug well over 500 lbs and have no muscle weakness but can't get it to look symmetric like my left trap. But I am giving myself this year to see if I can change that else next year its off to the doctors

Need to get that nerve un-pinched brah. Look up some stretches for herniated discs/bulging discs near the neck or go to a chiropractor and let him snap city it. I had a similar problem with the sciatic nerve in the left leg and the left calf muscle, the body does some weird shyt when something is wrong.



*traps twice a week crew* checking in.

The average lifter doesn't know how important thick traps and rear delts are in the stability for pressing lifts and the nice shelf they create for squats :blessed:

Rack pulls
Cleans
Tire flips
Shrugs
Smith machine "the Rock" style shrugs hnnnnng

the nerve isn't pinched anymore...i went through a long treatment last year at the chiros to get that fixed...the problem is the nerve was pinched for a long time before it got treated...compound damage breh

Slow and controlled Front/rear barbell shrugs with low rep semi heavy weight with squeeze at the top and lower weight slowly to start position. Upright Rows, Deadlifts, boxing. I like the cosmetic look of dumbell shrugs when you wanna get your trap thuggin' goon on but the barbell seems more effective for me. Cleans also work but I see so many cats doing them dangerously that its scary.

Good set/rep count for a beginner?

i mean first you gotta learn how to power clean. which involves being strong in the deadlift as well as front squat. so get your deadlift and front squat right first before anything. As for rep count once you do get good at it well I usually do 5x5 at whatever weight you are comfortable with.

could just do hi-pulls. It's the power clean without the catch part (aka the only part that hits the traps)

doin power cleans is not similiar to hi-pulls. Hi-pulls are upright rows. Which is not performed in a power clean.
