Koon's strength is a mystery...He scarred up that other top 5 e-ranker and it seems like he captured/bested everyone he had as a follower...so who knows, maybe Ran is better purely fighting but Koon's strategy game is sick and he's no slouch with the hands.

Talent isn't necessarily strength...Chang's speech about Ran's advantage bc of the rules basically eluded to this point in that same chapter.
