She’s one of the only justices who worked as a defense attorney and she was the most progressive out of the ones suggested.

Ok, so, she was a defense attorney. And? Why should that be seen as a positive for black people? The mention of that is similar to when criminal justice is the one of the first things a Democrat will trot out when trying to secure our vote. It’s rooted in a belief that we are criminals first, and citizens second.

But how he went from pan-African to anti-immigrant GOP grifter is uncanny...Tariq argues with myopic talking points rather than actual adaptive informed discussion. Whenever new information is introduced, he falls back on his pre-defined script.

Many of his talking points match Coulter's. They've just locked in on 2 different immigrant demographics.

It's ashame because I really thought he could've been a force in grassroots new black political thought, especially because he's charismatic as fukk.

At this point there might as well not be any guidelines. The internet changed a lot of stuff. If your belief is that people consuming any amount of child pornography should all receive the max penalty just say that. But as it stands someone doing it now as opposed to the 90s or before isn't comparable. One thing I've seen pop up are questions of accessibility and distribution. Should it be taken into account how easy it is to get the stuff now? The age of the offender? Whether they produced it and/or distributed? Idk. That's what Judge Jackson and others were forced to wrestle with. Makes my skin crawl talking about it but it's reality, and it's complicated. And I say this as a father. These offenders are obviously sick. There was one case repubs cited where it was a kid himself sharing the shyt, but of course that goes unmentioned. Do we lock them up indefinitely or attempt to rehabilitate? Again, I don't know. But it shouldn't be on the judges to have to figure the entire thing out. It's a far reach to make this about her "caping for pedos". Yall have to know this is bullshyt.

Okay, what nominee would you be happy with?

A nominee whose legal record speaks to a clear commitment towards advocating on behalf of black people through the courts. I simply see nothing in her record or, quite frankly, her life that tells me her seat on the court is a boon to our cause.

If we are going to use criminal justice bonafides as a litmus test, Rachel Rollins, the US Attorney for Massachusetts, a black woman with a proven record of reforming the justice system in the blackest county of Massachusetts, would have been a much better appointment.

I actually grew up next door to her.
