anti-voting rights
anti-reparations
anti-housing rights


Somehow doesn't add up to "most things" that conservatives believe.

This discussion is pointless, "black conservatism", "Muslim conservatism", "American conservatism", "conservatism in 2022", "conservatism in 1924" all of these things are completely different.

We are using one word for different definitions, that's why I'd rather talk about the underlying meaning than these pointless labels.

The meaning of "conservatism" in the United States has little in common with the way the word is used elsewhere. As Ribuffo (2011) notes, "what Americans now call conservatism much of the world calls liberalism or neoliberalism"

Not gonna lie, I lost some respect for my parents when they still supported Obama even tho he was travelling to Africa campaigning for homosexuality and pushing gay marriage.

Family - White man who works and votes, white woman who is barefoot and pregnant and offers no input on anything. White children who who are taught in schools that slavery didnt happen and they are tasked with ruling over minorites.

Education - Privately funded, religious schools with no education standards, a denial of science and American history, and packed with religious myths.

Hard Work - Working for minimum wage, sometimes through multiple jobs with the intention of producing capital for billionaires and coporations. No worker rights, no unions, no labor boards, no standards at all for employee welfare or standards

Responsibility - No social safety nets, No benefits from the taxes you pay, your life can be up-ended and destroyed at any moment without fault or notice, and you simply must accept that you deserved it.

I like Tariq but I wish he'd get off this 'black people have been in America for thousands of years' tip. And I get that some native Americans were indeed reclassified as colored or negro in the 18th and early 1900s.

I love good alternate history theory. At the very earliest black folks could have got here is in 1312, when Abu bakr II of Mali led a voyage of 200 canoes. If he succeeded, then that's a little over 700 years.

But most of our ancestry before North America is from the transatlantic slave trade. Going back to West and Central Africa specifically.
