ARMA might be the exception, but personally I have never run into an issue with how I have been building computers.
did you play the BF4 beta? Planetside 2? EVE? or any large scale PC game?
this "the CPU doesn't matter" really is last gen's paradigm. the ps360 both had weak sauce CPU's. so a powerful GPU was all you needed on the PC side to scale ports. that's changed since both next gen consoles have an 8 core CPU. now they can make games that are fundamentally more complex, and therefore will have higher CPU requirements on the PC side. the same with the memory. all of a sudden COD Ghosts requires 6gb on PC
