Its only been during this commercialism decade of Wolverine and over-hyping his abilities to ungodly levels that he even beats Sabretooth. Everything up until 2001-ish, Sabretooth was almost always (throughout the multiple authors and storylines good and bad), the faster, stronger, more savage, better healing factor than Logan. He lived to torture the dude and remind him of various pasts and wrongdoings, trying to force him to fully accept their feral nature. Logan, gets character development from Victor and plot protection because he's the main character and deus ex machina will always see that he prevails in some fashion. On paper, he gets walked, but that won't sit right with the PR guys. Another series of classic moments.
A lot of the anti-Cyke bandwagoning always had me confused even as a kid like
Especially coming from anyone only saw the wack struggle Cyclops in the movies, like those flicks weren't blatantly throwing everyone else in the bushes just to make Logan look good
Sad to say that the cartoons never did him justice either, save for Evolution.When Scott was a straight goodguy, everyone complained that he was a boring boy scout and a douche.
When they made him edgier in the more recent stories, everyone complained that he was Magneto 2.0, or a "horrible person".
Dude's a BOSS in the comics, outside of the Madelyne Pryor incident (which was forced by editorial behind the original writer's back for the sake of having another X-men book they could franchise.)
While he's definitely made his share of mistakes, that's the territory you enter when you have a character's been around for 30-40+ years. They're bound to have at least one out of character moment or major screw up. You don't see as many people holding Wolverine or Gambit to such impossible standards.

The gawd Cyclops was just like Nas.. b*tch azz niccas like Wolverine always hated to see him shinin' and pullin' the baddest b*tches in the Marvel universe. Dude didn't need all that whil'n out bravado and announcements every time he did something or stepped in a room.. It was all business with dude. Plus those powerful optic-beams was a major problem for fools trying to f*ck with him and the X-Men.. Real recognize real.

Whenever I think of Cyclops I always think of this scene from X-Men Unlimited. Page 1 and the situation is on 10. Plane crash, no visor and cant find the 2 people he rode with.
This was the first comic I ever purchased BTW
