Is Soul on Ice worth reading?
I enjoyed it the first two times I read it but once I found out Cleaver is hated by everyone from that movement for being a "traitor" and becoming a staunch Republican, kind of lost it's appeal to me

Does anyone no about any African Philosophy books? For example I have read some books on things like stoicsm which was written by Europeans hundreds of years ago. Is there a African equivalent?

Don't know if they wrote about stoicism (don't know enough about philosophy) but Souleyman Bachir Diagne (Senegal) and Achille Mbembé (Cameroon) are quite important african philosophers, you could check theri works :yeshrug: Diagne teaches at Columbia I think.

I'm currently reading Behold the Dreamers by Imbolo Mbue, she got a lot of hype for selling her book for a million bucks before it was even finished, but tbh it's not THAT great...well-written and all, but not really worth all the hype imo. Some stereotypical stuff too.

Also I just came across this free ebook : Afridiaspora’s My Africa My City - Afridiaspora haven't read it yet but if of y'all want to download it :yeshrug:

I wasn't lookimg for stoicism, i was just using it as an example of philosophy that comes from a specific geographic location. Im just ooking for philosophy specifically from Africa and African countries.

Get Rich Carefully by Jim Cramer. I had to show down on it though because I ran out of free time. Before that it was Rich Dad, Poor Dad. That book will make you change your mindset on money if you haven't been exposed to how wealthy people stay wealthy.

I'm also trying to find the time for The Man in the High Castle

Reading "L'impératif trasngressif" by Leonora Miano, a Franco-Cameroonian writer...a series of speeches she gave about litterature, history, language, slavery, etc...in Africa.

Don't know if it's translated in english yet but some of her novels should be, well worth reading

I'm trying to decide between these two stacks below. Either one will keep me busy for awhile.

Locke was an enlightenment era philosopher, so if you want to get an insight on how they thought government should have been run, Two Treatises of Government and A Letter Concerning Toleration is a good way to go. If political theory interests you, I recommend reading through Plato's The Republic. I wrote my thesis using a lot of themes from it and Plato has some interesting views. If anyone is trying to hold a discussion on democracy then vs democracy now I'm up for it.
