I think the general consensus is Austin was the biggest active wrestler aand Rock is the biggest household name because of his acting career.

rock was always secondary to stone cold
theres no denying that if you lived through the era
even tho there were a lot of times that i liked rock better than Austin

I remember the rock surpassing Austin in crowd reaction by '99.

just because the book kept Austin invinceable while jobbing the rock out to people like billy gunn, and always having Austin go over whenever they crossed paths, it doesn't necessarily mean that Austin was still bigger.

I'm sorry but you seem to be unable to read. Yes, Hulkamania ran wild in Japan, UK and USA. That does not make it a global phenomenon. More people have seen The Rock this year in a movie then Hulk Hogan has been seen in his entire life.

this is where we need to set guidelines.

we are talking about OVERALL FAME AND RECOGNITION.

this guy was in the HIGHEST GROSSING MOVIE OF ALL TIME.

is he bigger than hogan?

a few great years for the Rock doesnt make him more FAMOUS AND RECOGNIZABLE than Hogan.

the rock is huge no doubt about it. most famous in the world RIGHT NOW. all time? NO.

The Rock is Justin Timberlake, Hulk Hogan is Elvis Presley.

Hogan was just as big in the 80s and rock is today.

Cover of sports illustrated. Most watched match in wrestling history with hogan vs andre rematch. Gettjng 26 ratings every SNME. My grandma knows who hulk hogan is, if i said the rock to her she wouldnt know.

In fact. THE ROCK isnt huge. Dwayne is.

Plus at the height of his popularity, rock was booed out the building vs hogan and one of his lowest points of popularity. After hogan tried to kill him with hammers n trucks mind you.

So idk.

In wrestling NO. In mainstream. Even at best

And people really overrated the rocks movie career like he schwarznegger or something. Dude been in nuttin but corny "santa with muscles" type movies and franchises that make money. If the rock is in the movie its almost guaranteed to suck; i mean dude is in DOOM for christs sake.

He coulda have made himself a much better career than he has but he picks the shyttiest movies to be in i do not know why. Suburban commando is better than most the rocks movies.

They both had tv shows as well.

People underestimate hogans popularity especially back then. With all the info that has come out, hogan was paid by ted turner millions a month just to come over. Hulk is one of the most popular people in HISTORY. A global icon. Rock has never gotten that love even tho he is indeed a star.

Best match ever tho. Hulk vs rock

there it is. GREAT POINT.

Lest we forget

LOWKEY the rock can thank this guy for his success and current status.

Yall stuck in a time warp?

Vin brought back the f&f series into a billion dollar blockbuster. Not the rock.
That's nice. But that's not what was said.

Saying Vin Diesel is responsible for Rocks current status and success is blasphemous and a huge discredit to Rock. Vin would tell you himself. No one is talking about the fast franchise and Rock bringing it back. Y'all nikkas need to start reading.

FRIDAY AM UPDATE: Paramount reports Baywatch brought in an estimated $4.5 million on Thursday, from 3,647 locations, which includes $1.25 million from Wednesday night preview screenings. This is not exactly the opening performance we forecasted and it looks like the opening will even fall short of industry expectations. Comparing against a select group of previous Thursday releases and how they played from one day to the next following their Thursday opening, and not accounting at all for previews, a best case scenario would appear to be a three-day around $22 million and a four-day around $24 million, while a more likely scenario would appear to be a three-day weekend in the high-teens and a four-day in the low-$20Ms.

As for Thursday preview results for Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales it brought in $5.5 million, an improvement over the $4.7 million for 2011's Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, which went on to open with $90.1 million over its first three days. This matches the preview gross for Star Trek Beyond, which then went on to a $59.2 million three-day weekend last July. It is, however, less than the $8.2 million preview gross for X-Men: Apocalypse, which was one of our comps in our preview below as it then went on to gross $65.7 million over last year's three-day Memorial Day weekend.

At the same time, this could be the start of big things to come as this is a better result than last year's The Jungle Book, which delivered $4.2 million from Thursday previews ahead of a $103.2 million opening weekend and Maleficent also brought in $4.2 million from previews before opening with $69.4 million
