Sting in 97 was as big as it got in this business. Bret, Shawn have never been on that level. Never drew like he did at Starrcade 97.

Not that insane until he did the Rocky movie. Rock appeared on other shows and ratings went up...Hogan never meant that much in his prime. His peak was the Andre match.
The Rock helped launched X Box...lol. He hosted SNL to record ratings. His career trajectory right now is proof Hogan was passed by a lifetime ago. People want him to be president..get this crazy ass thread the fukk outta here. Nobody from pro wrestling will ever mean that much...the good ol boys trying to play if off on that Shawn Michaels type shyt to make up for huge failures "Hes a great performer and yadda, yadda" His great performances bombed as a top guy and he was passed by Austin when he was like 33..lol. Hogan could never crossover like Rock did...he stood out in wrestling for like 9-10 years...fell off..turned heel and had another 2 year run where Sting doesn't get any credit for and where Goldberg blew up.

Who is this? Warrior was very popular and Bret and Shawn wrestling never WM 6 huge as Warrior. Macho Man was apart of the Mega Powers and had a one year reign that made money after WM 4. LOD drew more than Shawn and Bret...they were just hold overs until Austin had that moment with Mike Tyson. That's what started the train that beat the nwo.

They were over but so was Godfather and Rikishi. They were just put in the top spot when they had no business being in the top spot. Fans loved Razor more than both of them by Rumble 96.

and hes still a draw today, as shown in AEW. bret & shawn appearing on TV never draws that type of interest, if any interest at all.

the WWF wants us to think it was that boring HBK/Bret match, but in reality, they shouldve just gave the warrior a better opponent and let them headline, cuz half the crowd started leaving after the warrior match. bret and shawn closed out the show to a half-empty arena.

theres lots of wrestlers levels below hulk hogan, that were also bigger than bret & shawn.
bret & shawn couldnt draw sticks.

Sting wasn't popular until Hogan turned heel. WCW never made money until the NWO.

WCW was a mis-managed company before bischoff turned it around.
but sting was always top-tier in popularity. alot of people watched WCW just for him.
only wrestlers more popular than sting in the early thru mid '90s were hogan & warrior.

hogan is still the biggest wrestler of modern times.
the rock is the biggest name/celebrity, but he didnt do nearly as much for wrestling as hogan. its really not even debatable.
which is why i never understood the faux uproar when the WWE brought him back a couple years ago. you cant ban a man from the house that he built.
