The Rise of Skywalker doesn’t even feel like a Star Wars movie.

Or maybe Disney paid $4 billion for the franchise wanted to do whatever the could to make their money back as fast as possible, by being safe and appeasing the built in audience, instead of taking chances and building a new following.
I disagree with the bolded

They didn't do anything to appease the built in audience....everything they did was to build a new following

They forced a feminist sub theme into Star Wars when sexism has never been an issue in that world because strong women and female characters have always existed in Star Wars, except they weren't Mary Sue's with a clear agenda built in by the writers

TFA was to get the already existing fan base .. thats why its the same story as ANH.. igel even said so in the autobiography excerpt posted earlier.

True....they pulled in Han, Chewie, Leia so that Star wars fans would go :ohhh:

And then pulled the rug from under us by killing off Han, making Leia an afterthought, and turning Luke into a cranky old failure of a man, something that completely goes against his character

I am one of the ten people that liked The Last Jedi. I thought it was a great twist in the series and could have taken the franchise to a different direction. Instead, many of the loser fans were pissed at the deviation and wanted everyone to look like it was Empire Strikes Back. What we got was an awful third movie that barely related to the first two movies of this series.

The fans deserved this. :manny:

the problem with the last jedi was not what happened perse.. it was that for a movie that takes place months after tfa it erased all the tfa did..
writing a trilogy with 3 writers separately and not sharing story ideas is the problem

She did it after a day or two of even learning the Force existed, then it only took her a year to learn how to Force heal and bring people back from the dead. 800 years of training and Yoda never even could do that. :lolbron:

TFA did get a pass from the fanbase initially but in hindsight, retreading ANH was straight up p*ssy and cowardly...

You can't get any "safer" than remaking a fukking classic, JJ is a clown for that...

The irony here is, the idiot that directed TLJ took big risks which is what the fanbase wanted BUT he torpedoed the entire franchise with his nonsensical "subverting expectations" strategy...

i can pinpoint the moment in the new sequels when i realized the whole thing was gonna go to shyt. right after han was killed and they come back to rebel base, and leia reaches out to hug this literal who, instead of his fukking road dog who was around before her ass was, making her into a poochy was complete, and ol dude screaming her name all the time cemented that shyt

I HATED TLJ when I first saw it in theaters but I saw it again last year before TROS and now it’s my favorite of the sequel trilogy. I still hate how they had Luke go out at the end though

and they ruined the franchise in the process lmao

only an idiot would think it would be a good idea to deviate from george's vision, he gave them the outline, the fans what george's ideas they just don't want him to direct, it was a slam dunk, and the botched it, everything you posted is not what happened in reality

it was pure arrogance, they thought they could do something better than george

just like Rian Johnson's arrogance, thought he could out do Abbrams, and said ____ what he did in the first movie, I'm throw all that out and show them I AM THE GENIUS

This is how the hacks are in hollywood I been out there, they all think they are THE GENIUS, and they know what it is best, they hated star wars and felt they could do it better and understood the fans better, etc, that's what happened

Facts. This is the same attitude that ruined Fantastic Four, X-men, Last Airbender, and pretty much any live-action adaptation from an anime. These hollywood big-shots go in thinking they know better than the OG's who created the characters and the concept. They don't listen to the fans. They don't do their homework on the lore. They don't respect the characters.
They go in thinking it's ALL about them because they have this CREATIVE VISION, and how they understand the series better than the original creators and the longtime fans because of their CREATIVE VISION.

The movie drops. The movie is trash.

"...well, they just can't accept my CREATIVE VISION for the franchise!"

As well they shouldn't :gucci: The fans aren't spending their hard earned money on some Hollywood clown's CREATIVE VISION, they want to see their favorite characters and stories brought to life and done justice on the big screen.

I HATED TLJ when I first saw it in theaters but I saw it again last year before TROS and now it’s my favorite of the sequel trilogy. I still hate how they had Luke go out at the end though

For me it was the opposite... I actually liked it after coming out of the theater, until I realized that there is literally NOWHERE LEFT they could have gone after that point.

Snoke died anticlimactically.
Luke died anticlimactically after being turned into a coward.
We're two movies in and Rey has zero character development.
People pointed out that the whole Canto Blight mission with Finn was literal filler.

That movie taught me a lesson that I have to give it time and let a movie marinate before putting my opinions out there. I was blinded by the Star Wars nostalgia and I was way late to realize that movie was trash. :snoop:

Spend billions making a new Star Wars trilogy with NO plan, brehs.

Write a boring protagonist with no blood sweat and tears who never takes any L's, brehs.

Ruin your movie with wack villains who act like they came straight out of Spaceballs, brehs.

Preach about diversity but still throw John Boyega under the bus, brehs.

Bring all of the surviving OG characters back for your trilogy just to kill them off without ever giving them a proper reunion, brehs.

Undo ALL of the accomplishments that EVERYONE made across the entire series, brehs.

Character-assassinate Luke Skywalker by turning him into a COWARD, brehs.

Invalidate the entire point of Anakin's sacrifice, brehs.

Bring in the cast from the Raid (and Veronica Ngo) just to kill them off, brehs.

Treat the OG homies 3PO and R2 like trash just to sell BB8 toys, brehs.

That's cool that they wanted to switch up with a female lead for a change, but you gotta show us the blood sweat and tears that it takes to become great. If you don't have that, then you don't have any way to relate to the character and you have no story. Plus, they could have done all of that without turning Kylo, Finn, Luke, and the rest of the characters into punchlines.

The biggest tragedy is just the lack of any real point to it. So much of the plotlines and plot developments and attempted subversions and overall story served no purpose and had no point.

Like for instance. Take Luke for example. The idea of Luke turning away isn't inherently bad. The idea of the empire/first order rising up again isn't inherently bad. But when you don't even explain it... specifically when this movie IS A fukkING SEQUEL... and you fail to properly incorporate such shocking events INTO THE fukkING THEMES OF THE STORY....

you fukked up, bad.

Again, I was never even a Star Wars fan like that. ESB is the only movie I consider great. ANH is alright, and the rest are very mediocre to bad. But holy shyt, This sequel trilogy pissed me off because there was so little it did well, even if it didn't have as many bad things as the Prequels. At least the prequels had a story, and half the main characters weren't fukking worthless.

Poe was WORTHLESS. Finn had SO MUCH POTENTIAL WITH HIS BACKSTORY BUT THEY DID LITTLE WITH IT EVEN THOUGH HE WAS MORE INTERESTING THAN REY IN THE FIRST MOVIE.

Granted that isn't saying much, its like picking through trash...

But I wholeheartedly disagree, TLJ is easily the WOAT SW film...

You have to both not be a SW fan and turn your brain off to find any enjoyment in that film...

The beginning of the film (gunning for the rebel base on the planet instead of the ship they're fleeing to), Leia using the force to float through space, the casino and the Holdo maneuver are still hands down the dumbest scenes in the franchise...
