1. Yes. Germany is having a massive brain drain and along with the rest of Europe, a population crisis. What's happening to their MD's is serious.

2. You can't talk about quality when most people don't go to quality schools. Colleges have sprung up to meet a variety of choices, good or bad, right or wrong.

1. Do you have links for point 1? Because in the 20 years I've lived in Europe I've never ever heard that Germany had a brain drain. Ageaing population is the demographic issue they have (hence taking in migrants and refugees), never heard/read anything about a German brain drain. Brain drain and population crisis ae two different things, not necessarily linked.

2. So if most people don't go to quality school, why do you bring up that Alabama has more colleges than Germany ("combined", whatever combined refers to, you didn't answer that) ?

1. Brain drain: International student exodus from Germany | News | DW.COM | 14.06.2015

Merkel warned of German scientists 'brain drain'

2. The point highlights that fewer universities serve Germany's population. And federalizing schools in American will reduce the number of options by a vast amount.

That's not true. Having a felony conviction on your record also stops you from going to college because it makes you ineligible for student aid.

That's why you get a job with tuition assistance. Walmart and McDonald's have tuition assistance/reimbursement programs, financial aid isn't needed in those instance. I know plenty of felons that enrolled in community college/trade school after serving time, they didn't let a felony stop them..they either did tuition assistance or paid out of pocket

Guys are actually supporting te current rotting system JUST to sound smart for strangers on thecoli :snoop:

Of course she needed to shout.. The host was bobbin and weaving every direct question related govt spending. If she let him control the debate he would have steered it into a dead end and obscured her points altogether. Even the nuclear weapons point was greeted with a "yeah ok"

Im about to retire from this forum shyt.. I feel genuine empathy for the future of our people after reading how these have-nots cape for the beneficiaries of a corrupt system.

1. Props, I never heard/read anything about this until now. Actually surprised because over here everyone is raving about the "German system" even though further scrutiny shows it's not all great, and this indeed confrms that.

2. Oh ok, yes this indeed makes sense.

Granted, Germany damn near invented the "welfare state" ...their reasons for keeping it are still needed to enhance this discussion. Thats why they amp up that free college for international students. They have a huge problem keeping people IN Germany.

But it goes both ways...cause during the Greek crisis, a lot of southern europeans were immigrating TO germany and other Western European nations in the same way.

Its just a continuum, but to ignore the problems germany has isn't helping this discussion.

So are you saying the solution is for black families to be even more dependent on government welfare? Sounds like you never interacted with anybody in an urban/'hood environment. What you are saying about "strengthening social safety net" A.K.A increase government dependency is not a recipe to increase academic success of students in urban areas..would have the opposite effect actually.
Yeah projects, EBT cards for use at the corner store, WIC, emergency rooms, and decrepit schools is such a strong safety net.

Its a better safety net than in some third world countries. shyt its a better safety net than some developed countries like in France or Britain..You ever been to a ghetto for black immigrants in Paris or London? They would kill for the projects (which barely exist anymore thanks to section 8 and gentrification), EBT, WIC, schools and emergency room care. Having government build Trump tower level of public housing or providing infinite levels of food stamps for citizens in hood/urban areas isnt going to motivate alot of those people to become less dependent on government. They will just play the system to keep the government assistance rolling in..shyt its already happening now I got plenty folk in my family that sell their monthly EBT funds for cash

@mbewane look at this: German scheme a brain drain for EU? - BBC News

Germany has tons of incentives to KEEP people around.

Indeed...now that you mention it, I do remember seeing articles about how the Goethe Institutes in Europe were setting up programmes to enable intra-European immigration to Germany, just never linked that info with a German brain drain. But yeah it makes sense, I know lots of Greeks, Italians, Spanish and Portuguese people have been immigrating to Germany these past years, as in other northern and western EU countries, but in Germany it's a whole other level.

See...I'm not entirely clueless :pachaha:

I'm just saying...i'm not even against "free college"...but all this hand-waving and obfuscation of facts isn't helping the discussion.
