what are the specs if you dont mind me asking?

I want to build a new system soon, or more likely upgrade cpu/mobo and an SSD
I got a 760K along with a 280X, 8GB RAM, 500GB HDD and a 128gb ssd.

I was able to get it done by getting the CPU and GPU used. Motherboard is a $20 MSI...it's not a great build if you are interested in building it out. But right now, it can run any game out there on high @ 1080P

Are those 980s worth copping or should we just wait til something else drops?

Wait. Them 8gb are coming out soon, we don't know what amd has in store, and big maxwell is not out yet. But if you're rocking a 400 or 500 series, the 4gb 980s might be for you, if you can't wait

4gb 680, can still pretty much run everything on high @ 1080p with solid fps.

next upgrade I want atleast 8gb of vram or more though.....

Stress test? :sadcam:

But that's probably not a good idea with your shyt hitting 100c like that. In all honesty you probably cut the life of your CPU. I guess all you can do is hope it'll last until you upgrade :mjcry:

ah got it

I will more than likely go with a top of the line i5 and shop around for a good mobo, video card and a 240gb SSD

I already have 12gb ram and 3TB

I have an AMD A8- 3870K and didnt notice that huge of an upgrade from my Core 2 Duo although Ive never overclocked

Yeah the truth is that aside from unoptimized Ubisoft games, almost any quad core will handle games at 1080P. The 760K clocked at 4 GHz with a 270X or better will hold you down for the next 18 months or so.

Intel is the way to go though for sure.

I never play games, ever

my thing is my pc is used to stream video to multiple tvs and Plex slows it down

then you add in video conversion and photoshop and the pc gets sluggish sometimes
