It all depends on your budget. You can get an R9 280X for like $150
I've got a PC Power and Cooling 750W PSU, it's been holding me down for 6 years now :blessed: I don't know if it can't handle an R9 280X.

Kinda old, but 750W is plenty of juice for a 280X (unless you have some odd setup)

in Intel that much better than AMD?

I havent kept up with technology and am wondering why are Intel cpu sometimes 2x the price of similar AMD

thinking of upgrading my mobo + cpu

I dont ever play games so I dont need the absolute best and I have never overclocked a system

my biggest hogs are Photoshop and video conversion programs

Just copped the dreamcast collection for Steam for $1 off the humble bundle.

I already had the dreamcast collection but the one I had was bought from Amazon last year as a part of a bigger bundle and unfortunately the dreamcast collection included was non steam drm and was a different version. Sonic Adventure dx on that version was pretty much lacking features and options and couldn't be fixed with mods made available for the steam version.

Thinking about upgrading from my 6300 to an upper end i5+mb combo.

Also is the Radeon 7970 that much better than a gtx 760?

If you are messing with large video files you might as well go Intel.

Their per core performance crushes amd

Get rid of the Xbox now. :troll:
I still have a cable box because you can't get On-Demand without one. Just going from 2 cable boxes down to 1. The Xbox One is hooked up to the only cable box. The Xbox 360 in the same room is my Windows Media Center Extender so I can watch my DVR recordings in my living room.

My whole thing was I wanted a better DVR system than the cable company offered. Now with my PC as the DVR I have more control over my recordings. The cable company's DVR had a 500 GB HDD in it. My PC has a dedicated 2TB HDD for recordings and I can swap it out for a larger one If needed. I can watch my recordings in multiple rooms. The HD Homerun Prime has 3 tuners and the cable company's DVR has 2.

It cost $2 a month to rent the cable card the HDHRP needs and it can service up to 3 TVs at the same time. It cost $7 to rent a single cable box for a single TV.
