Why haven't I heard of the Intel Retail Edge program before? I'm glad I found out before I started my build. As soon I get verified I'm copping a i7-4770K for $86 shipped. :blessed:

Why 'Watch Dogs' Is Bad News For AMD Users -- And Potentially The Entire PC Gaming Ecosystem

...

Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs is the latest PC title to take advantage of Nvidia’s GameWorks, a robust collection of tools that allow game developers to produce a visual experience which epitomizes Nvidia’s rallying cry: “The Way It’s Meant To Be Played.” Developers license these proprietary Nvidia technologies like TXAA and ShadowWorks to deliver a wide range of realistic graphical enhancements to things like smoke, lighting, and textures. Nvidia engineers typically work closely with the developers on the best execution of their final code.

I agree, this divide in optimization is bad for pc gamers in general. I've never liked that shyt.

That being said, I'm glad I have nvidia cards :whew:

AMD has tried to share everything with Nvidia but it is not reciprocated. That's bad for the PC community, whether or not you have brand X or brand Y.

It is bad for the community, but at the same time I guess competition is good....?

From a business standpoint NVIDIA needs this though. AMD has all of the consoles (which would make you think that their PC game ports would be better, but I guess not)

I don't mind the competition, but what happened with Watch Dogs is beyond that. That's actually moving towards monopoly-like development. That's not good for the PC Market at all.

Nvidia did the same thing with Witcher 2. They wouldn't allow AMD to use their eyefinity technology. I used to have a 5870 during that time period (they made it so only NVIDIA user could play in 3 monitors). I was beyond pissed off (thank god for Hayden and his hacks though...)

TressFX and Mantle have been open to Nvidia. They even hustled to get a patch up for tomb raider for Nvidia owners. AMD has been open doors.

What Nvidia is doing is perfectly fine as a corporation, but as a consumer and a part of the PC community (owner of both brands), this is not good. It looks like competition but it's really monopolizing to an extent.

At the end, the consumer will pay. Nvidia has the right to do what they are doing. The PC community has the right to be upset about it, especially when they see AMD willing to play ball.
