TressFX and Mantle have been open to Nvidia. They even hustled to get a patch up for tomb raider for Nvidia owners. AMD has been open doors.

What Nvidia is doing is perfectly fine as a corporation, but as a consumer and a part of the PC community (owner of both brands), this is not good. It looks like competition but it's really monopolizing to an extent.

At the end, the consumer will pay. Nvidia has the right to do what they are doing. The PC community has the right to be upset about it, especially when they see AMD willing to play ball.

For Mantle to work with Nvidia they would have to completely change their architecture. Never going to happen. AMD wasn't the one hustling for a TressFX patch for NV users, it was Crystal Dynamics. Neither company is innocent in this game.

currently only the GCN cards support Mantle. it's hard to call it "open" when it doesn't even work with all AMD cards

I think they made it clear that it will eventually work without GCN. Anyway, what is important is that all those games that use Mantle have the option to use DX. The game is not severely broken because someone chooses DX over Mantle. What they are doing with Watch Dogs is in the actual coding of the software, and it has been closed off to AMD which prevents them from optimizing properly. This is much different than something like Phys X, which can be turned off.

I don't expect this type of brand loyalty and bickering from this community. This isn't good for the community and the consumer, no matter who does it. At least offer the option to turn something off so it doesn't cripple 40% or 60% of PC gamers.

Yeah, eventually, keep eating that playing nice talk, :mjlol:

Check Dirt Showdown. Game is crippled in a way where 780's and Titans can barely compete with 7970s. I can care less about brands and won't go white knighting and crying cause 1 is trying to get the competitive edge over the other. It's what companies do. I'll go with whichever serves me the best for the shyt I like to play. Also, when developers focus on two separate API's you get the cluster fukk that was BF4. Most of the benefits of Mantle could have just been improved on via DX11 driver improvements like was recently displayed.

How's this rookie setup looking brehs? I'm still on the fence about the CPU. Is going up the FX-8350 worth it? :patrice:Rep for any feedback.
So, a couple of things.

I missed the fact that you linked two 4gb ram sticks...I have two 4GB 1866 G.Skill Sticks I can send you and I'll let them go for $55 shipped.

I can send you an MSI 970A-G43 motherboard (basically the same board) for $45 shipped if you want it...its essentially brand new with box and instructions :dead:

If you want to buy both I'll let them go for $90 shipped for my coli breh. I will accept a google wallet payment.

Save $10 by buying a white label HDD
White Label 1TB 32MB Cache 7200RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Desktop Hard Drive - w/ 1 yr warranty

There you go...$90 saved...you can apply that to a stronger GPU or get a nice SSD (I recommend an SSD):win:

@Big Blue YOU NEGGED ME BREH :to:

Also, why do you want an optical drive? I have several of them if you want one of them also. I'll let one go for $10 if you decide you want to take my offer.

I ran passmark

should I be concerned about any of these scores? I'm assuming passmark doesn't do sli (it only saw one 780ti when doing the tests). The CPU mark is about where it should be, but what about my 2d graphics mark scores and disk mark scores?. I have a 500gb Samsung Evo SSD as my main drive and a 3 tb and 4tb as my other drives. Does passmark combine all hard drives, or just look at one? If it is just looking at my main SSD, should I be concerned with those scores (they seem a little low)

Do you have the Pro or regular Evo? It does look a little low. Did you run Samsung Magician to see if it offers any optimization?
