for those buying...FE or 3rd party edition?

I'm gunning for a FE. My case is solid black with no windows so rgb don't mean anything to me (My girl would kill me with all those damn lights spinning in my bedroom lmao)

I'm still rocking a fractal R5 for the sole reasoning being it was the only case i could find that had 4 front usb ports. With me getting into streaming i found out very quickly having to constantly change usb parts in the back of my pc was annoying seeing as how my tower is under my desk. But with 4 front usb ports i have enough ports to where i dont have to constantly pull my tower from under my desk and change usb parts.

I honestly would of went with a R6 but i found a cheap open box R5 on amazon for 75$. Bought it asap!

Speaking of open boxes. For anyone who don't absolutely need these new cards on launch day it's worth it to wait a couple weeks or so for amazon to list their open box returns. My friend got a 1080ti a couple weeks after launch for 200$ cheaper cause he copped a open box return from amazon.

The only thing is there's no way to be alerted when the open box ones goes on sale. U just gotta keep checking.

With the dimensions of the new chip it looks like the cooler may need to be taken out.

That's what I'm awaiting confirmation for.

I got the white NZXT H510i

@MMA

after looking at the specs again you are right, I though the 3090 had twice as many cuda cores as the 3080 but that's the 3070

you can probably just turn of the anti aliasing to get to 4k 120fps with the 3080, and turn down other effects that aren't making a difference

That's a 5 year old setup. Id say get the 3080 first and see if it gives u are satisfied with the performance. If not, then go 'head and come on over to team red.

Yeah I originally got my PC from ibuypower in 2016. I started with a i5 6600k and ended up with the 6700k . I also had a gtx 1060 and ended up with a 1080 TI. I would hate to skip 2 generations of cards, but I might have to if I can't get it at $699. I'm not that hard-pressed to pay more than that.

Though if you intend to use it for games, one large monitor is better. No matter now small the bezels are, extending one screen across multiple desktops is annoying. I used to have three monitors set up in "Eyefinity" mode, and one ultrawide is far superior.
I think I just might get an ultrawide and also keep my old 24 inch monitor :manny:

It probably going to look ugly and asymmetrical but it will probably best of both worlds.

LG 34GN850 looks like the best option.
